personality:
One would think Ashley was a bubbly and outgoing girl because of her history as a cheerleader but she is in fact quiet and a little shy. She tends to be more of a listener than a talker and despite her emapthy she can be pretty level headed about certain things. While she can be very social and certainly knows how to fit in, she has no problem staying at home by herself, curled up with a good book or even doing homework and reflecting.
She easily makes friends despite her slightly introverted personality because she tends to see the good in all people. Of course this can backfire in her face. Her relationship with her brother is a very strong one, one so strong she followed him all the way to Virginia and she would protect him with every fiber of her being. Of course, being the little sister, she still gets on his nerves and vice versa all the time because she sometimes feels he's too protective and she wants to live her own life.
She can get over emotional at times and this is partly due to her abilities. It's almost as if she is a totally different person when highly emotional and it takes a lot for her to control it when around others that are on high emotional states.
She's extremely smart and cares greatly for school and some of her friends thinks she's too much of a book worm sometimes. They want her to loosen up more and have a good time with her life.

history:
Ashley Shay was born the second child of Brenda and Ashton Shay long after her brother was brought into the world. Despite the age gap, her brother was always there to protect her but normal sibling behavior often occurred. When she was a young girl she was at a friends house when an incident occurred at their home. She had no idea about what really happened and it wasn't until years later, when she was able to understand, that her brother told her what happened and what they really were. He didn't want what happened to him, the surprise of it all, happen to her. Their mother wasn't admitting to it and she had to always go to her brother when she had a question. Really it made their relationship even stronger. It wasn't long after she was told about being a witch that her own powers started to manifest. It was odd since her family was so religious.
She knew they would be coming so she wasn't completely surprised when her first power occurred. Unlike her brother it wasn't dramatic and exciting but rather quite boring. With the help of her brother she was able to learn to control her aerokinesis and learn more about being a witch. it wasn't until her second ability hit that things got a little out of control. The normally level headed and emotionally sound girl was feeling emotions so intense that she felt like she would lose control. She was always crying or screaming or breaking down and it was finally realized that she was an Empath. She was able to feel the emotions of others and it would take much more control than her other abilities. While she was able to settle it down a bit, it still gets out of control at times and she has to work very hard at controlling it when she is around large groups of emotions or people that are feeling highly emotional.
When her brother decided to leave their home because of a crazy break up, she knew she couldn't stay with their mother. She was already hiding the fact that she was a witch and if her brother left she didn't know what she would do. Somehow he agreed to take her with him and she willingly followed him to start a new life in Virginia.
Her high school life was pretty normal despite her brother being a teacher there and she settling in quite nicely. It of course helped that they had moved to a town where the supernatural ran a muck so she no longer had to hide what she really was. She made friends, did well with actual school and even made their cheerleading team. Things were going pretty normal until she met (_____) They instantly clicked and while Ashley wasn't much into boys or relationships, she really enjoyed being around (_____). One evening their innocent relationship went a little too far and Ashley lost her virginity. She wasn't exactly ready for such a big experience even though most of her friends had already done so and she knew her brother would kill her if he found out. Unfortunately things only got worse because she recently found out she was pregnant and she has no idea what she is going to do about it. She has not told a single soul and is terrified about what might happen.

role play sample:
She had really not meant to look disgusted because she wasn't, just extremely surprised at the totally changed man before her. His scars, the ones that she could see, changed him yes but they were not the reason he was so different. Just his presence, his whole essence was different and not in a good way. Her eyes went to the floor in slight shame, for once not meaning to hurt the man's feelings, but that was quickly erased when he approached her and fondled the link between them. She froze, wanting to yank her arm away from him but she refrained from such behavior, though she was very uncomfortable. She actually did not have a lot of human interaction, either being locked up so many years ago with Cassius or the last few years with her keeper. There were a lot of things that bothered her and someone being this close to her was one of them.
She had no clue it was going to get worse. She gently shook the one hand from his, releasing the grip he had on the bracelet but he then assaulted her fingers and made them touch his skin. It was odd, the feeling of his imperfect flesh beneath her touch. She couldn't describe the sensation of it and if he had been, say a lover, she would have traced the lines of the faded marks, but he was nothing of the sorts and it took everything in her power not to pull away from him. "No, your imperfections do not disgust me, you do." she hissed, pressing his neck a bit harder than she meant to. "I am however curious as to how you acquired them." her voice softening, trying to get a bit of information out of her master.
Her curiosity turned into confusion as he spoke of her keeper's words referring to her so called potential. When it came to healing, it was quite a tricky subject indeed. Healing not only required the actual magic itself, but it required a part of the person's soul to actually want to heal the person before them. She wasn't certain as to what he was suggesting until her hand moved down to his chest. Her eyes widened and this time she did try to pull away, he gripping her tighter.
"Make you des...You aren't suggesting that I heal these marks on you?" she said more than asked, knowing that he did expect such from her. She shook her head, she actually knowing that do to that would take more than what she had to offer. Her training in healing had abruptly cut short and he knew that, he was the reason. While away her keeper did not continue to train her and her magic lay dormant for years. She had no way of practicing because the keeper would not allow it while in his custody. She never argued about it because healing or even using magic in general wasn't something that made her life worth while and she didn't have to do it.
His threat hit hard, not because of her vanity and the thought of looking like him made her sick, but because she didn't think she could actually do it. And the nerve of his threat both frightened her and angered her at the same time.
"You of all people should know just how hard that will be. Cuts and bruises, even fresh burns are one thing but healing damaged skin that has sat for years." her voice dropped, shaking her head slightly. It wasn't until he touched her neck that she really got angry, she slapping his hand away from her. "Don't touch me." her voice slightly shaking as the frustration started to really take over. She trembled slightly but tried to regain her composure as he backed away from her, she smoothing down her dress just out of being nervous. His grin infuriated her as well and she had to bite her tongue from saying anything more.
Anger turned to irritation as he mentioned her keeper. "That is probably a question you should ask him directly, he would know the answer much better than I would." her tone hot. "I believe under your specific instructions there was to be no training while we were locked away for no apparent reason." Her keeper did not continue her training and she didn't understand why Cassius was asking her this question. She took a few steps away from him, wanting to leave but knew she couldn't.
Was she really brought there to heal him, did he really think that was possible?
