The morning bell rang and Dakota stood up from his desk. He looked around the room and admired his hard work from several nights ago. He had rearranged the furniture, so now there were about thirty or so desks lined up, five to a row, facing the front of the classroom. To the left were a set of tables on which he would stack and organize the graded or ungraded papers, and a table for the printer, hole puncher, and other supply stashes. On the other end of the room was a set of divided mini couches, arranged to form a wide oval. That way, if the mood struck him near mid-term, they could have book discussions, round-robin fashion and that was the space they could use. In the corner, he kept file cabinets for the grades, and his desk with all the supplies and master computer was there along the wall which had only large window, providing a nice view of the town beyond.
He pushed back his chair and walked from behind the desk, running his hand along its polished veneer finish on top. The chalk board that was still empty, even though his first class started in less than five minutes. He would need to start filling it out before the students showed up. He was starting out with a fairly simple lesson, and he thought it would catch the student's attention. After werewolves and kitsune, most things would seem simplistic
As the class began to fill up, they took their seats, a few chairs empty for the latecomers; but this was not unusual. He expected to be tested by a few miserable brats. He thought it was time to begin their lesson. "Morning,"He half-barked, he wasn’t a morning person and he had football assessments and tryouts when class was over. "For those of you who are new this term, I am your Mythology Teacher, Mr - OW BASTARDING TABLE!" He hissed through grit teeth, catching his toe on the corner of his desk, "Ah crap."
Clapping his hands and raising his voice he spoke again smiling from ear to ear, "Right, as I was saying, I am Mr. Shay. I expect you to be on time and prepared. I don’t excuse for sports, loss of pets, bad hair days, chipped nails, or other trivial reasons and I don’t grade on a curve. You want that, Mr. Saltzman’s class is right down the hall. Now, on with the lesson! I expect you’re already well prepared for it by now. Open your textbooks to page seventy-eight.” He moved around to the front of his desk so he could observe the class better. Clearing his throat, he began the lecture.
“Zombies are the living dead - reanimated corpses brought back to serve a sorcerer. A sorcerer who brings back the dead is known as a necromancer. The word originally comes from the voodoo religion of the Caribbean, and may derive from the African word nzambi, meaning god, or zumbi, meaning flesh. Targets for becoming zombies are the weak and sick, especially those with a mental illness.
Certain branches of Haitian and West African vodou, or voodoo, believe a spirit or spell can bring a corpse back to life to perform heavy labor or evil deeds for its master, a sorcerer.
Zombies walk like robots. In August 1995, National Geographic magazine reported that men of the Ewe people of Togo, West Africa, chanted a blessing over sacred knives, which were then pointed at a chicken, which promptly shivered and died without being touched.
I have also heard of many zombie rituals in South America, mainly Brazil. Apparently, as my friend said, because of the country's neglect for the dead, there are many corpse's in the amazon jungle's. This leads me to think that this might encourage the performing of evil voodoo arts.
Also, there are proven cases of 'voodoo' zombies, which are in fact people who are bought to the brink of death using this certain substance that lowers your breathing and heart rate by a 'witch doctor'. These people are buried, then dug up soon after and revived by the doctor, but in most cases they either have lasting brain damage from a combination of lack of oxygen and the drug, or they die. The ones who survive are often sold on by the 'witch doctor' to plantation owners, as these people's brains have been so badly damaged they are only functioning on basic commands and therefore do not know who they are, or have any purpose. They mindlessly follow orders and only need basic care. You following me so far?”

Anna rushed into class half way through his speech, flashing him an apologetic smile. She dropped her bag at her feet and slid into an empty desk.
You mean coup de poudre? She said quietly, with a small smirk when he mentioned the 'voodoo substances. There wasn't much magic to it, but how would he know that? She was actually there.
Anna smiled to herself, remembering her summer in Haiti spent with Wade Davis. It was 1982, and Davis, an American author researching zombie lore, had a special interest in Anna..in what she was. He never wrote about her, about vampires, but he did research them enough. He helped her track down her fathers lineage to a family near where she was staying. It was there she learned about his past, it was there she first heard that her mother might still be alive.
Anna snapped out of her memory and watched her teacher. Damn. He was super cute but looked way too strict. Maybe this was his first job? He looked young...but then again, so did she. This made her smile to herself again. She was gonna get herself in trouble if she didn't watch it.Outfit: here.Notes: OMG i couldn't make it as long as yours if I tried. My brain is dead. Sorry. Can I blame finals week?

Stefan rushed down the halls, making sure that he didn't use his vampire speed. He was late. How could he be late? He was a freakin' vampire for crying out loud and didn't actually need to sleep, though he could. And for once, he hadn't felt bad for using his vampire speed to get ready this morning. He had needed it. However, he hadn't had a chance to fully feed so he was a bit hungry. Oh, well. He'd just have to finish feeding later. Hopefully, he could hold out that long. When he finally reached the classroom, he saw that he was just behind Anna, a vampire that he had known from eighteen sixty-four and took a seat next to her, not even bothering glancing at the teacher. The man started out introducing himself and then Stefan had to stifle a laugh at the curse that followed when the man stubbed his toe. Looks like someone didn't get the lay of the land before today, he thought to himself and then leaned back as the man introduced himself and explained the purpose of the class, only frowning when he said that if they wanted to be graded on a curve, to go to Alaric. Then he mentally shrugged off the comment. It wasn't like the guy had actually dissed Ric. He was just stating his methods. There was nothing wrong with that.
As he took notes and followed along on the pages that they were covering, Stefan wrinkled his nose as the teacher lectured on and on about zombies. Ugh. Gross. I'll never understand why people even like that species. They're so unsanitary, he thought to himself. Not that he had any knowledge of whether or not they were real. But then again, he was only a hundred sixty-two and he certainly hadn't seen everything though he had definitely seen more than a lot of people.
When he heard Anna softly correct the teacher, he turned slightly to stare at her. "Know from experience do you?" he asked in a voice only she could hear. To be honest, it wouldn't surprise him as she and her mother were older than the Salvatores and even before he had known that she was a vampire, she had carried herself as being older than her years. Something that he had a feeling he probably did now as well. But being a vampire could do that to you.
He then continued to take notes, once in a while making sure that his notes were accurate, which of course they were. He had been in different many high school throughout the years, his Ripper days notwithstanding. Due to that, he had mastered the art of notetaking. Not that he supposed it really mattered with some subjects as there were some things that never seemed to change, and therefore, he did quite well in them. When the teacher asked the class if they were following him, Stefan couldn't help the small smirk that appeared on his face. "Yup. All the way to Brazil," he said in a voice that was too low for human ears.

When he heard Stefan's comment, he immediately had a comeback, “If you could run defense as fast as you run your mouth, we might actually win once in a while.” It was well known that the Timberwolves sucked. They hadn’t won a state championship in years. This was why he was so reluctant to take the coaching position. One of the lovely consolation prizes of being both a witch and a clairvoyant was that very little got past you. He was just grateful he wasn't a telekinetic like Rachel, or worse... a telepath. Now that would be a living hell.
Almost as soon as he’d finished addressing Stefan, another student had spoken up. He was actually surprised by that. He figured most of his students would consider this a bullshit course with no use in the real world. They would be partly incorrect. He had a few surprises in store for them. "That's correct, Miss Barret", and he continued with the lesson.
“To make a zombie, a voodoo practitioner makes a potion that consists of the poison of the puffer fish. and other herbs and nerve toxins, that is given to the intended victim. Tasteless, odorless and almost impossible to detect. This causes severe neurological damage, primarily affecting the left side of the brain which controls speech, memory and motor skills. The victim suddenly becomes lethargic, and then slowly seems to die. In reality, the victim's respiration and pulse becomes so slow that it is nearly impossible to detect, sometimes resulting in the person being buried alive.
Old fashioned coffins used to have bells installed in them in case of someone being buried alive or turning into a zombie. Graves have been unearthed that have had claw marks on the coffin lids from victims trying to escape a fate worse than death. Legend has it that, once given salt, they realize what's happening, and return to their grave. Once the touch the dirt of their grave, they go back to being dead.
In modern movies, zombism is contagious, and people bitten by zombies become zombies themselves. In others, people die from the bite and are reanimated by the same force that created the other zombies. In general, this continual spread of zombies leads to a zombie plague in which the undead vastly outnumber living humans. On that note, one of the best places to seek refuge during a zombie epidemic is your local shopping mall. This might seem somewhat counterintuitive, but know that these commercial structures are fortresses in their own right, complete with concrete walls and multiple layers of reinforced glass. The fast food court will have plenty of burgers and beer to last you for several months, and the clothing stores can provide hours of dress-up fun.
There’s also a good chance that the power will stay on due to the backup generators, allowing you to watch the nation get overrun on satellite television. The rest of civilization may fall, but you can ride out the zombie apocalypse in style. Some good stores to check out: Bookstore – You can find survival guides, cookbooks, and horror novels. Toy Store – The toy guns can be used to hone your firearm skills. Pharmacy – Medical supplies are typically found here. Sporting Goods – Baseball bats make decent weapons. Fitness Center – Help you to keep in good physical shape. Music Store – You can put on tunes to drone out the disturbing moans in the background. Phone Store – Now’s the chance to upgrade for free!"

He couldn't help but voice out which seemed to turned attention to him. He blinked a few times. "Damn guy can't think out loud around here?" He mumbled as he finally took in the teacher who was pretty hot and seemed far smarter then he looked to be teaching this. Looks could be decieving. He moved to him handing him his slip. "I can sit anywhere right?" He asked to Dakota as he turned not waiting for an answer as he absently moved taking a seat not to far from Stefan and Anna. He rubbed his temple a little bit and missed the almost comfort of the silent halls now as his migraine seemed to start to return. He took the chance to take in his classmates, noticing two in particular that he couldn't get anything much from. He frowned a moment, everyone else made his head thump like it was gonna split in two but Stefan and Anna, no they just gave off a small pulse and seem to deafen out the almost overwhelming thumping. He moved his hand staring at them a little with curiosity.[/ul] tagged; open outfit; herewords; 529

Claire sighed as she pulled her red BMW into one of the empty parking spaces at Mystic Falls High School. She had been in Mystic Falls less than a week and it was already turning out to be one of her worst nightmares... It was only morning and she already needed a drink. She was late as usual and as she slipped out of her car, Claire pulled on her over-sized sunglasses to hide all evidence of this mornings hangover. Her heels clicked loudly as she walked down the hall to her first period class. Mythology.
The school was big... she'd give it that much but it was nothing compared to the over-sized and over-funded private school she had attended in Orange County. This city was too small... Claire hated it. The noses, the smells... the people. It was like being stuffed in a ten by ten box with the Addams family. People in this town were far too superstitious for her tastes. Couldn't anyone have a normal conversation? Maybe about Christian Dior or Serendipity's?
This city was a lost cause. Her parents had sent her to live in this hell hole as punishment and it was here that she would rot... Lucky they had a little liquid courage and powder to make the stay a little more tolerable.
Claire swung open the door to her classroom. Class had already begun and clearly she had missed Mr. Shay's whole spiel on being late to his class... Not that Claire cared anyway. School was a waste of time. It wasn't going to get her anywhere and it wouldn't bring Michael back so what was the point. Claire's bright blue eyes traveled the length of the man in front of the class (her sunglasses blocking her action from view), perhaps she was mistaken... Claire smiled at the teacher before taking her seat at the first empty desk she could find. She slouched back in her seat and let her eyes fall closed behind her sunglasses waiting for the teacher to begin talking once more. tagged; --- outfit; here words; 342 notes; ---

Bonnie was running late, she had gotten caught up in searching through her Gram's book for anything about other species. Vampire existed and maybe there was other things. There was some reason that she had nearly killed her best friend. Humans weren't affected by the device and she had seriously screwed her. She felt bad enough and she needed to channel that anger into this. So she was in research and fix mood. And the book hasn't been much help. It was a book on spells and well there was very interesting spells but not much more.
She moved quickly through the hallway, of course with her luck she was gonna be the only one late. The last thing she needed was detention. Caroline would kill her if she was late to cheer practice because she got detention and the thought of Caroline caused another wave of guilt to wash over her causing her stomach to twist in knots. She groaned a moment to herself, checking the wall clock once again as she arrived at the door to the class.
Pushing it open and noticing that the teacher was finishing up talking and a cute guy was moving to take a seat. She hasn't seen him before, woah. Hot teacher. He definitely was new. There was something about him that felt familiar, almost as if she knew him or something. There was just this drawing pull and of course he has never met another witch except for her Grams. "Sorry...alarm clock whole thing-yeah." She said giving an apologetic smile and small blush as she nodded moving stopping a moment seeing Stefan.
She didn't mean to freeze but she did. Where was Elena. Worry hit her a moment before she told herself everything was okay. She couldn't go around hating Elena's boyfriend, forever. Damon was another subject. She sighed and forced a smile toward him a moment moving past him knowing Elena was most likely gonna sit by him and she missed her best friend. She had to do better. She forced herself to sit down in the seat opposite Anna leaving the chair next to her to Stefan for Elena.
She looked sideways at Stefan before placing her books down. She finally broke the ice leaning a little. "Elena's late? Everything okay?" She allowed her brown eyes to meet his after a long moment and for once they weren't as hostile. She then turned her attention back to the teacher not wanting to seem rude on his first day. Plus god he's gorgeous and what was it about him? She almost jumped as something washed over her. A sense of darkness, it made her audibly gasp out and this time she did nearly jump out her seat as something almost flashed before her eyes it was that powerful.
She hadn't even touched anything. Her head quickly glanced around the room a moment, she doesn't noticed that her hands had been gripping the desk and she was shaking a little. She had never felt anything like that. It made her feel sick, hopeless...she couldn't explain it. She looked unnerve a little as she slowly turned her attention back to the teacher.

During the lecture, Stefan had noticed a few more students coming in---two he didn't know, and one that he was qutie familiar with: Bonnie Bennett. Bonnie. A Large part of him still felt guilty for causing her grandmother's death. He and Sheila had been friends of sorts in the sixties and she was definitely going to be missed. As she sat down, he mouthed the word "Hi" to her, giving her a sympathetic look. He couldn't blame her for being late as she had probably hadn't even wanted to come in today. He knew that if he was in her position, he probably would've wanted to just stay under the covers all day, and not talk to anybody. Then, his brows furrowed as he glanced at the door and then back at the young witch. "Where's Elena?" he asked her in a whisper. It wasn't like her to be late, though she could've been visiting with Caroline at the hospital. But with Katherine's return, he was just feeling more and more on edge and would feel better if he knew where his girlfriend was. Great. I sound like a psycho stalker of some sort, he thought to himself. That was the last thing he wanted, but at the same time, he couldn't help the nervous feeling that he had. His feeling mounted when Bonnie asked him if Elena was late. "Yeah, I guess she is," he answered, as the pit in his stomach grew. This was bad if she hadn't told Bonnie anything. Where could she be? Had Katherine done something to her?
This thought was cut off at the teacher's comment about him playing defense as well as running his mouth, causing Stefan's head turned towards him in surprise. How could he have heard that? He hadn't been loud enough for a normal human to hear, so how had this guy heard him? Had he been louder than he thought maybe, or was he some kind of psychic? Wonder if Bonnie would be able to pick up on it if he is, he thought to himself. But he wasn't going to ask her---not after everything she had lost when she was helping him and Damon.
Suddenly, he heard Bonnie gasp. "Bonnie, what's wrong?" he questioned. What's going on here? he wondered. Was she having another vision? He watched in concern as she nearly jumped out of her seat, and he had to resist the urge to be at her side. She had seen or sensed something. But what? However, as quick as Bonnie was affected, the moment seemed to pass and she was once more focused on the teacher. Quickly, he ripped out a page of his notebook, wrote down the words "What happened? What did you see or feel? Are you okay?" and then placed the page on her desk. Hopefully, she'd answer him and she could explain what had just happened. He didn't know what had just gone down, but he had a bad feeling about it...

Bonnie did just want to stay inside, stay in her bed and just forget about the world. She lost her Grams, the one person that have been there for her. She raised her when she had no one else and she felt like she killed her. Not just Stefan and Damon, she should had left her Grams out. She was too old and now she was gone. And it was all because of her and the only thing that she could think of was what if she had been more powerful. Then she wouldn't had needed her. And she would be alive now.
So she couldn't just pretend that she doesn't have these powers anymore. She couldn't have anymore blood on her hands. She couldn't help but offer a much more caring smile toward Stefan at his greeting. She wanted to hate him yet she could see why Elena loved him. He was a good person even if he was a vampire yet that was the thing. He was a vampire and he was a killer. She had seen him at his worse, she had seen his true face before she had put him down.
And she knew that she couldn't just end him and risk Elena hating her forever. She had to be accepting and hopefully go from there. She just couldn't see him as that mysterious hot new guy anymore. She shook her head and gave an worried look at his question. "She isn't with me. I haven't seen her all morning. Maybe she visited Car." She said hopefully and tried to keep her voice low and act like she was paying attention as well.
The last thing that they needed was Katherine getting her hands on Elena. They don't even know why Katherine is here in Mystic Falls. Whatever it was, it couldn't be good. She let out a small sound as she took out her cellphone with the intent to text Elena before the coach's words caught her off guard, looking to Stefan and finding some small satisfaction. She frowned at that to herself. She wasn't the type to be so immature yet having Stefan somewhat scolded pleased some part of her she didn't want to admit was there.
That part of her that would just easily and willingly yet any of them ablaze if she had too. That part of her that hated them with a passion and wanted nothing more then to see them all suffer. She could feel something almost in the atmosphere, an almost dark heavy pressure that threatened to consume her. She felt it pressing at her psychic walls, that part of her that made her immune to mind manipulation.
Something was here, something was toying with her. She looked at Stefan at his question and the sight of him just fueled that anger within her, that hatred. It was like that thick energy found that opening, that window of almost rage and hatred. She felt free for a second, her inhibitions almost bringing stripped away as the power washed over her, through her to her soul. Her brown eyes taking on the note as her eyes took it in, reading it. Of course he would want to know.
Hasn't he done enough? He can't protect this town. She looked at him. "Why do you want to know? So you can get someone else killed? Why don't you just leave me alone?" Speaking the hateful words that she had wanted to stay all along and as she did she felt confused and quickly looked sorry. She moved a hand to her head feeling the clouding force trying to swallow her once again, she was witch and some part of her was trying to fight it but it wasn't strong enough.
"Something's in here." She whispered to Stefan a little scared as she felt it overpower her once again as she jumped up from her. "You sure you don't know where Elena is? Maybe you had too much to drink..."

He nodded with slight skepticism as he heard Bonnie's excuse for being late. He didn’t have a retort for that one and he let it slide this time, simply because her grandmother had recently died. “If you’re late again, I’m sending you to see the Guidance Counselor. He’s all for hugs and sympathy.” He hadn’t actually met the man yet, but he’d heard about him through the faculty and if this was going to be a consistent thing, he would utilize the student counselor, since that was the man’s job.
Almost as soon as he’d finished addressing Bonnie, another two students had come in late. It was apparent, from the fact that they were holding slips and schedules, that they were the transfer students. He couldn’t be upset about that. It was a large school and if you didn’t know where you were supposed to go, you couldn’t be faulted. “There’s no seating chart so just take an open desk anywhere. Don’t make this a habit.”
He took careful note of the new boy. There was something...off about him. Something very dark. He couldn't sequester him from the other students without arousing suspicion, so he settled for watching him carefully. This job was turning out to be much more difficult than he thought it would be. "There are already many diseases that destroy or heavily damage portions of the brain, rabies being one of the most similar to a zombie virus. In popular media, the rage zombies presented in 28 Days Later seem to me the absolute most scientifically plausible. As well, they have a method of transferring the virus that doesn't damage required functions, and can be taken down with a knife to the gut, blood loss, or simply dehydration, fever, or starvation."
"There are several parasites that control the mind of their host already in this world, however the likelihood of a parasite that controls human functions developing naturally is incredibly low, especially when you take into account how developed our brains are compared to the things that mind control parasites work on. All of the mind control parasites prey on one specific creature and can't work with creatures not of that type.
Evolution takes a long, LONG time, so the only way this is truly plausible is if it's developed in a lab specifically to prey on humans, or an unknown being introduced. That said, a parasitic zombie would likely be able to use weapons and would have a transference method other than biting. Mind control parasites work with the framework they're given, so they would require all required bodily functions be intact."
"When we know more about how genes work and can effectively manipulate them, there is the possibility of simply growing zombies in labs. These would be living, but could certainly act like zombies and have the general properties of zombies. Extra capacity for survival could be added too, like incredibly thick skin, tougher bones, or other enhancements. Nanomachines programmed well could replicate all of the functions required for a human to function, but the body would still be dead. The machines could be built with the basic materials that human flesh is composed of and programmed to reproduce."
"It's possible the zombies could become inactive if they don't get enough energy for the nanomachines to function, so this might be mitigated through partially shutting them down unless they are actively hunting. These kinds of zombies might not be as active as other kinds, but it's likely any human that gets even the slightest bit of bodily fluid in them, would likely die very quickly and come back when the machines could reproduce enough to make the body work. Slime molds are a type of single-celled organism that attempts to congregate and form a mass. When they get to a certain density, they split into groups within the mass and perform different functions."
"In theory, it's possible a slime mold could be a parasitic organism and could be fine-tuned to perform functions required to control a human body. One coming about as a result of evolution is practically nonexistent, but it could be created in a lab. Slime molds reproduce by spraying out spores, so it's likely a simple touch would be enough to infect someone, maybe even just being near them. It's also very likely it would be spread through air and zombies that expired would become an incredible biohazard to anyone wandering near them. If this was produced in a lab and released on humanity, the only way to beat it would be to wait until it all died out."
"Live in an underground bunker, on a ship or island in the middle of the ocean, or some other way that isolates you completely from it. And then wait. Possibly only weeks, possibly years. Depending on its resilience and ability to survive without a host, it might never go away. If this ever happened, it's possible humanity would go extinct or be completely unable to recover. Plasmids and retroviruses alter the genetic code of the host. Plasmids do so in ways that slightly change the environment and make it more friendly to their survival, but one created in a lab could change as much as the geneticist was able to code into it."
"Retroviruses infect cells and replicate by the way of infecting DNA and changing the code to turn it into the virus' genetic code. Both of these could be developed in a lab and could change a human into a mindless, infectious killing machine, or even into a genetic monstrosity. By the same vein though, plasmids and retroviruses might be able to turn people into superhumans, so if we get to the point where we can create genetic monsters out of normal humans, there might be others who have the power to kill them with a glance. At the time we can do this, if these things aren't strictly controlled, we will have a lot more to worry about than zombies."
He purposely chose to ignore the conversation taking place in the back of the room, though his tolerance only extended so far. It was time for a little investigation, courtesy of the wonderful country of Brazil. "On a more serious note, lets try a little experiment, shall we?” He headed back behind the desk and opened the top drawer. He took out a sheathed dagger and laid it on the desk. “This, is one of those supposedly enchanted knives I mentioned earlier. Not easy to come by and even harder to get into a school. However, it is for this experiment only so if anyone touches anyone else anywhere with it, you’re gonna spend the rest of your school term in detention."
"Lets see if reality lives up to the hype.” He headed over to the closet and opened it. Reaching in, he took out a small cage and carried it over to the desk. He carefully set it down and turned back to the class. “The legend said that the animal didn’t even have to be touched by it, the knife just had to be pointed at it. Who wants to try it?” He had a feeling this class was about to go south, and yet he pressed on. Determination was a very stupid thing. However, he felt he could deal with the problem if and when it arose. Hopefully he was wrong. It was rare, but it did happen. His attention was drawn back to the students, namely Bennett and Salvatore. This was starting to get out of hand. "Is everything alright back there?"

The voice in his head wasn't his own and this time he was the one to sit up a little straighter and grunted out in pain at the intrusion as he pressed a and to his temple. What the hell was that? He blinked a little dazed at this seeing Dakota taking out a freaky looking knife and a cage. He looked to Bonnie who seemed to getting a little hostile or something. A lover's spat? He focused on the teacher with a shrug. "I'll bite. He rose up and moved to the front taking the knife and looking at the cage and then Dakota. He doesn't know the closer that he moved to the man the stronger his affect would be on him. Some part of him wandered what it would feel like to cut the knife into him. Would he split like butter? He felt a little sick at the thought which nearly made him drop the knfie. "So what I do?" He asked before looking over his shoulder at the two. "Hello new guy learning here, rude much?" Stefan entered the classroom and Anna gave him a small smile and waved. He sat down next to her and she saw his facial expression waver slightly as the teacher subtly dissed Alaric. That's right, Alaric was one of the few humans that didn't' have a problem with vampires. She remembered many a conversation between her and Jeremy. He spoke very highly of Alaric. They all did. "That's correct, Ms. Barrett." She smiled at the surprised look on his face. "Know from experience, do you?" Stefan murmured making her giggle. I may or may not have caused the research he's talking about to happen. She said back in just as quiet of a voice. Before he could respond, the classroom door opened again. A boy wearing skinny jeans and a beanie walked in and she choked back another laugh at his smart-ass remarks to the teacher. This kid almost cared less than she did, but he'd definitely make the class interesting. He took a seat and she could feel his eyes on her. Seriously? The door opened again and Shay looked about 800% done with life. In walks Barbie, straight off the plane from Malibu. She looked like she gave zero fucks, as well, but to top it all off she obviously checked him out. If this kept up, Shay might lose it before the first 15 minutes. The door barely had a chance to close before it opened again, revealing none other than Bonnie Bennet. Lovely. Anna thought to herself. Nothing like a first period class with someone who hates your guts. Bonnie froze after giving some lame excuse to Shay and her eyes fell in the general direction of her and Stefan. Was all this hate reserved for her or did Stefan steal some blood bags too? She seemed to snap out of it and surprisingly sat down next to Anna. She easily overheard the conversation between the two and slowly put it together. They were both on edge over the blessed Elena. God forbid that girl ever do something on her own, she had her own supernatural SWAT team, for christ's sake. Sudddenly, Bonnies demeanor turned from worried to just plain mean. Anna turned around in surprise, not even really caring what the new teacher thought. She was there. What could he really teach her, after all? She looked from Stefan to Bonnie, waiting for the drama to start. She was on fire today...and way out of line calling out Stefans Ripper phase like that. The new guys voice caught her attention and when she turned around, he was headed to the front of the classroom, reaching for a knife. Both him and Shay turned around to achnowledge the argument between Bonnie and Stefan and Anna almost laughed again. Notes || Sorry this took so long to write! Outfit || here.[/tt]

Stefan wasn't quite sure what was going on. The class had started out normal enough---well, as normal as a class could get when you were covering zombies---but Elena's absence had him on edge and Bonnie obviously didn't know where she was, though she tried to be upbeat about it, suggesting that maybe she had visited Caroline in the hospital. "Maybe," he murmured. And then he had made that comment to Anna about zombies, who replied that she may have been responsible for what the teacher was researching. "Misspent youth?" he couldn't help but quip. Geez, where was this attitude coming from? That sounded more like something Damon would say. But then again, he didn't really care. He was sick of being the good brother and playing human. Why couldn't he just do what he wanted for once?
His eyes then darkened angrily as Bonnie got nasty, asking him if the reason he wanted to know was so that he could get someone else killed. "Me? If you had deactivated the Gilbert Device like Elena asked you to---" he spat out. Then he shook his head. Where had that come from? "I'm sorry, Bonnie. I have no idea why I just said that," he apologized. And if her expression was any indication, she wasn't too sure why she had just said what she had either. She then confirmed this as she whispered that there was something in the classroom. "What is it? Can you pinpoint it to anyone?" he asked. Then, it was like a switch had flipped again as Bonnie asked him if he was sure that he didn't know where Elena was, accusing him of having too much to drink. With a barely surpressed snarl, he jumped up, getting into her face. "I don't feed off of humans and you know that!" he said, barely remembering to keep his voice down.
Almost as fast his anger had materialized, it dissipated and he shook his head. What was going on? What was making him act this way? He usually had better control of himself than this. "Bonnie, we have to figure out what's going on---fast," he whispered. Then his attention was diverted when Mr. Shay walked up to the front of the class and pulled out a knife and brought towards a cage. What is he doing? he wondered. Whatever it was, he had a feeling that it wouldn't be good.
He watched as one of the newer students in class went up to demonstrate whatever it was that Mr. Shay had started talking about. To be perfectly honest, Stefan had tuned out the lecture as soon as Bonnie had started acting strangely. However, as soon as the man's attention was on them, he snapped back to attention. "Everything's fine," he replied. Oh sure, except that I want to rip out the throats of everyone in this room, he thought to himself. Their blood was calling him and he just wanted a taste. Just a taste, that's all he needed. He was sick of surviving on animal blood. He was a vampire and vampires ate people. Then he gave himself a mental shake. What was he thinking? This wasn't him. He didn't consider humans to be meals...not anymore...So what was causing him to act this way? Come on, come on, come on, come on...control it, he thought to himself. But the smell of all that blood was so good and he wanted it. He should take it. Stefan turned around so that his back was facing the class and then he gripped his desk, slowly inhaling and exhaling, trying to push the bloodlust back down. However, he could still feel the urge to rip out a throat overwhelming him. "Bonnie...you're going to have to take me down," he told her in a low tone. If she killed him, so be it. He'd rather be dead than hurt anyone...

Anna took in everything that was going on very quickly. What the hell? She looked around the room and noticed that not a single person was paying much attention to Mr. Shay..well, except the new kid, the one standing at the front of the room with a knife looking wayyyy to eager.
The conversation between Bonnie and Stefan was like watching a tennis match..with four players. Oh don't give her permission, Stefan. She'd enjoy killing you way too much. She laughed then bit her lip. Where the hell did that come from? Wasn't she trying to keep peace with the Bennet witch? She stood up and grabbed Stefans wrist. His brother saved her ass, now it was time to return the favor. We all need to get out of here. NOW. She looked at Bonnie seriously. All of us. Something was definitely wrong. She could smell very distinctly each classmates blood. She could almost taste it. She could feel the blood rushing to the surface of her face. Stefan was almost doing the same thing and with their mood swings the way they were, she was afraid Bonnie wouldn't hesitate before just killing them on the spot and the way this school was infested with Vampires, there wouldn't be anyone left otherwise. Vicki knew that Stefan wasn't gonna be happy with her going to school today. He doesn't think she was ready yet to be around people and see them as people and not food. She does't really care what he thought. She was tired of being stuck inside, of course Damon was quite fun yet she wasn't anyone's prisoner and that was what she was starting to feel like. And when Damon hadn't stopped her, she just continued on her way.
She knew she was late, very late and once again she doesn't care. She could do what she wanted now. She was better, stronger and faster. Never again would she feel weak and useless. Never again would she ever feel not good enough as much as it still tried to haunt her. She'd so them all who was boss. It was her. And she was't gonna be that Vicki anymore that backed down and stayed in her little hole with the druggies.
Yet a large part of her still was quite at home there. She wanted to see her brother. She wondered what Stefan even told him. Had he compelled her brother to move on, compelled him to believe that she had died as well like Damon had did Jeremy. She was angry at Damon still for that but was moving on. She wasn't gonna whimper over losing someone that wanted her to be someone who she wasn't.
She realized that she was so late that she might as well not go in to her class and hang out in the stoner pit yet, the very scent around her almost made her stomach flip. An overwhelming excitement and hunger, she wanted to hunt. She wanted to feed and for once feel powerful among these better off goody two shoes. Maybe she could eat Caroline...that'd make her feel better. Hearing that her brother was dating Miss Mystic Falls had her cringing.
Yet she stopped when something caught her enhanced senses, Stefan's voice. She held her head to the side a moment freezing in the hallway a moment. She frowned when he told someone to put him down. What did that mean? She looked up, she may not like Stefan's methods in how to be a vampire but she didn't want him dead. She moved in a blur of speed following his voice finding herself at a class room door, moving inside and being hit with something that almost staggered her.
She groaned stumbling moving a hand to her head. She felt foggy and free which was something since she never felt as free as she has since becomign a vampire. "Stefan? Don't you touch him." She growled out to Bonnie and rolled her head as she could feel her nature starting to rise at the delicious scent around her. She could feel her fangs trying to sprout free, the veins trying to push their way from her eyes. She snarled hungrily eyeing a close student before her strong willed nature caused her push it down.
She focused moved to Stefan grabbing his shoulders. "This isn't you. Fight it." Was she actually the good vampire now? Yet that doesn't last long before her eyes fell on Anna having missed her throughout the shock of seeing Stefan like this and the sight of her cause the rage, betrayal, hurt and saddness over Jeremy surface. She snarled out and was gone from Stefan's side in a heartbeat with intent to tackle down Anna. "Stop touching him don't you have what's important of mine! Get your own Stefan!"

Bonnie doesn't know what was happening to her, to them. She could feel the dark cloud almost washing over every single person in this classroom. It was like they all were being stripped of their layers and just being cut down to the gritty drama filled centers. Even other students were starting to flip out. Fights were breaking out over stupid little stuff. It was all escalating so fast and soon was even starting to make out or worse just full blown get busy right in the class room.
Okay. She had to stop this. She moved her hands to her head, trying to push it out. Trying to gain control of herself yet she couldn't push it away. She wasn't strong enough, she couldnt' stop this. Yet again she was useless to helping someone just like her Grams. She shook her head fighting away the overwhelming grief as tears formed to her eyes and she couldn't let that take over her. She focused on the anger, the hatred and strength she felt. Her desire to help this town and ultimate her desire to rid it of vampires.
She clung onto that knowing she'd be useless if she fell into that deep hole of despair that was her Gram's death. "Then the vampires would had won. You want that, Stefan" She asked with a challengingly judging glare to the vampire as she she shook her head at him with a bitter and angry look. "Sorry? Is sorry gonna bring back my Grams?" She asked in an almost scream as she shoved against his chest. She stumbled back as a fighting pair shoved into her knocking over desks and crashing to the floor.
They were gonna kill each other, it snapped her out of it. She clenched her eyes shut screaming out with all her power as she grabbed her head ruffling her hair bending over as she broke the power temporarily. "I-it's too much...I can't even keep it at bay. Stef-aaah" She felt that red hot rage and anger that overwhelming hatred for them return and she was suddenly face to face with him as he jumped up getting in her face. "You're a vampire, Stefan! It's what you do." She shot back as she laughed at him like he was crazy for even saying it.
Anna's words made her turned hardened and non compassionate eyes on her as she gave a challenging look. "God I been waiting-" She started before Vicki was coming into the class and moving to Stefan. "Don't tell me what to do." She spat at Vicki before turning back on Anna. "And you stay away from Jeremy before I kill you myself-" She doesn't have time to finish before Vicki was attacking Anna nearly taking her down in the process. She stumbled back and it snapped her out of it.
She shook her herself, staring in horror as the students were nearly screwing themselves to death, fighting or crying their hearts out. She looked to Stefan and quickly leaned toward him thrusting out an arm causing the pain to start for him. She looked to the two vampires and used her power to try and put them down. she never tried so many before. Could she do it? She could feel herself losing it again as she gasped out sharply and lowered her head. Her eyes darkening with hatred as she used more power. She was gonna kill tjem, she grew harder and harder with more force.

He yelled more at himself then anything else and Shay's whole desk jolted up from the desk behind him as he kept his hands at his head before jumping around as the desk slammed into the clip board and whoever was close to him including Shay was shoved back from him as if a force has pushed them away. Looking horrified for once, he turned meeting Shay's eyes before rushing to the door stopping to stare at the pain filled vampires on the floor and then staring at Bonnie. What the hell? He quickly rushed out into the hallway taking the chaos with him. Ususally things got better after a few moments after he left the area. Most times. He shouldn't care about these people but he did. He doesn't want to hurt anyone. Everywhere he went this followed. Was no one safe from him? Was he an threat where ever he go? [/ul] tagged; open outfit; herewords; 469

----------------------- ----------------------- Jeremy was of course running late to school. He had no idea why he didn’t wake up when the alarm clock went off but there it was just playing music when he finally woke up. He had just slept through it. Guess he needed the sleep. Jeremy sighed and jumped into the shower. It didn’t take him long and he was soon out of the shower with a towel wrapped around his waist. He grabbed another towel and towel dried his hair. His mom always hated how he used two towels when he got out of the shower. He sighed as he missed her a lot. He threw the towel he used to dry his hair onto the floor beside him deciding that he would get it up later. He brushed his teeth and his hair trying to hurry up and get ready. He then left the bathroom and got dressed. Jeremy grabbed his book bag and his keys and headed out the door.
Jeremy didn’t have a car yet so he had to walk to school. He didn’t mind it though he wished he had caught a ride with Elena in the morning. He wondered why she hadn’t woken him up since he slept through his alarm. He left the house and started walking to the school. He needed to get him a car. That was one of the reasons he got the job at the Mystic Grill so he could save up money to get him his own car. He made his way to school and sighed as he walked across the parking lot. He smiled at a couple of his friends. He didn’t go by his locker because he already had the book and notebook he needed for the class that he was late for. Jeremy had been bumped up to Elena’s grade because of the intelligence he finally decided to show. No one knew why Jeremy had decided to hide it all these years and his answer was clear. He didn’t want to be considered a freak.
He headed into his first class that he had now with Bonnie, Elena, Caroline, Stefan, and Matt. He was late for his first class on the first day of school. He sighed and walked in. Sorry he told the teacher and he first saw Bonnie and smiled but then he saw Anna as well. He had just learned that she hadn’t actually died. He cared for her still but he had strong feelings for Bonnie that he had told no one about which made him incredibly confused now. He sat down in front of Bonnie but he was also near Anna. He took out his book for the class and his sketch pad. He started sketching hoping that he could avoid eye contact with Bonnie and with Anna.
He had just sat down when Vicki attacked Anna. He frowned knowing he needed to do something, anything to help Anna but he had no idea what. Yes he had feelings for Bonnie but he still cared about Anna. Jeremy brought out the knife that he now kept on him and cut into his own skin blood dripping down. He hoped that Vicki would be distracted by the blood so Anna could get the upper hand. He didn’t realize that Bonnie started using her magic on the vampires in the room. ----------------------- WORD COUNT:: 560 TAG:: Nicholas Kirkland OUTFIT:: later NOTES:: -----

----------------------- ----------------------- Caroline was running late for class. She had over slept and had forgotten to set her alarm the night before. When she woke up she had to rush to get ready. This is not how Caroline wanted to start the day. She hated being late and having to rush. She had a million things to do at school and this just put off her whole schedule for the day. She was supposed to have met up with Bonnie and Elena before school to talk about some ideas for the Back to School Dance that she was over. Ugh this was going to drive her crazy now that she was late. She was never late for class or anything. That was the one thing she hated most was someone being late. She was so not happy about this.
She got up and got in the shower. She quickly showered wishing she had taken her shower last night now. She got out and wrapped the towel around her. She dried her hair with the blow dryer wondering if she was even going to make it to her first class for the day. She hoped she would, no she knew she would because she was determined to make it. Once Caroline set her mind to something she wasn’t leaving empty handed. She finished blow drying her hair and then put it up in a ponytail because she didn’t have time to fix it. She dressed and grabbed her cheerleading bag since she did have practice after school. She grabbed her book bag, purse, and then her keys and headed out of the house. She got into her car and backed out of her driveway and headed to school.
The drive to the school wasn’t long but it was familiar. Caroline did her best not to speed since she was in a hurry because the last thing she needed was a ticket. If she did get one she wouldn’t be able to hide if from her mother since her mother was sheriff of the small town that they lived in. She found a parking space and parked her car. She got out grabbing her bags and headed for her locker. She put her cheerleader bag and most of her books in her locker. She kept out the book and notebook she needed for the class that she was late for. She just hoped that the class wasn’t too far ahead already. She shut her locker and hurried off to her class.
She walked in and smiled when she saw the teacher who defiantly had to be new. He was hot. Yes she was with Matt but she could appreciate some hotness when she saw it. She went to her seat that was behind Bonnie and in between Matt and Elena though Matt and Elena didn’t seem to be there. Were they late as well? She frowned as she could feel some tension between Stefan and Bonnie. She had no idea what had just happened but she knew it wasn’t good. Bonnie is everything okay she asked her best friend. She would always be there for Bonnie no matter what but she was friends with Stefan and Stefan was with Elena so she was divided between both of them.
She hadn’t been there long when the class started going crazy. She had no idea what to do.

With her locker squared away, she finally noticed what time it was. In horror she began walking as fast as she could and slipped into class, at first everything seemed normal, but in a matter of seconds, chaos seemed to ensue and she found herself cowering in the door way. Her eyes darkened, not quite sure what to do. What was wrong with her class mates? Did she just leave one mental institution to enter another? She tried to keep herself calm, by inhaling and exhaling at a certain rhythm. Well at least she wasn't the only supernatural person around here, but the fact the others weren't exactly stable either didn't reassure her safety.
Why did the note writer want her to be here of all places? This was practically the breeding ground of danger. What was the point of her being thrown into this mess? It was like trying to solve a problem without having the resources or knowledge to do so. Her being here was hopeless, whatever she was supposed to do here wasn't that significant right? Perhaps it was best to just hightail it out of here and rough it on her own. Reyna, stop kidding yourself, where would you go, what would you do? She swallowed, listening to the little voice in her head. Reyna bit her lip, realizing it was right, here would be the best place to start her new life. To carve out her own chapter into the world. But was she too afraid to take the first step?
No, she had to stay there and watch, it may not of been that bad at all. Perhaps someone was just angry, she just wouldn't collaborate with the emotions that were strung in the air, instead she reverted from her cowering state into a rather expressionless one, just staring at them mildly, as if she wasn't staring at a train wreck. This often worked back at the asylum, though at some point her mind would have to drag itself back to reality before she missed something important. Maybe the letter writer was in this room? It didn't seem likely, seeing as everyone was freaking out, which made it a bad place to meet up with them. Hopefully she just blended into the background until the crisis was over, then she could sort herself out and finally just settle in.

Stefan's eyes clouded as Bonnie retorted that if she had deactivated the Gilbert Device, the vampires would've won and then asked him if that's what he wanted. What? How can she even ask that? She knows me! She knows I wouldn't want anyone to get hurt! he thought with a twinge of hurt. He had thought they were better friends than that. "Of course not. They were a danger to us all," he responded. "And of course a "Sorry" doesn't bring Sheila back. I know you miss her terribly," he continued. He missed her too. And he wished that he had gotten a chance to get to know her better.
He then became concerned as she stated that the power too much and that she couldn't fight it before letting out a cry. "Bonnie?" he asked. What was going on? Then his eyes flashed as she said that he was a vampire and killing was what he did. "Not anymore. I'm not that guy," he insisted. Why was she harping on this? He had worked hard to keep himself under control, and what was the point? He had tried to be good and not hurt anyone, and what did that ever get him? Nothing! He was weaker than everyone, and he was starving all the time! But the blood was here and he could take it now! What? Wait a minute. What was he thinking? He had to be stronger than this! He had to be stronger than his thirst! Come on, come on. Get a grip, he thought to himself. The blood was overloading his senses and he could feel his features changing. To his surprise, he heard Vicki beside him, saying that it wasn't him and for him to fight. "Why should I fight? I should just take it," he growled, going to push her away. Then, she and Anna started fighting as he groaned. What was going on? Why couldn't he control himself? It was as if something was taking over.
The hell with this. He was a vampire, he was hungry, and he was going to take what he wanted! He turned and was about to attack a nearby classmate when he felt a searing pain in his head, causing him to drop to his knees as he groaned in pain, grabbing his head. "You blasted witch! I will kill you!" he shouted. That hurt like hell! Then, he gasped as he heard everyone else start to fight. "Bonnie, let everyone else go but don't stop what you're doing to me! If you do, I won't be able to stop myself!" he told her. Right now, she was the only thing keeping him from ripping the entire classroom apart. He needed her to keep up what she was doing to him, but everyone else could be let go. They weren't a danger to the class...he was...

By this point, Anna was on her knees. Sorty after the stupid newbie vampire attempted to attack her and she quickly proved that was a bad decision, the witch had started that awful control thing she loved so much. I will rip her head off, myself She thougt to herself as her body went limp and she crumpled to the floor. Dammit, Bonnie, quit. She murmured through gritted teeth, knowing she had been heard. Caroline, take care of her. I'll get Stefan She said, nodding towards the brunette that had just attacked her. If Caroline didn't take her, she would have ripped her head off. Anna slowly took control of the pain Bonnie was inflicting. She looked up and locked eyes with the witch. You don't want to kill Stefan and Caroline. Let it go. She said in a shaky voice. She needed Bonnie to listen. She needed to get Stefan out of here before he pulled a 1920's and left them all sitting in a blood bath. She quickly realized she was too weak to use her speed to her advantage, so she struggled over to Bonnie and slapped her in the face. Snap out of it! She yelled, now ignoring everyone else in the room. Bonnie looked a bit startled at this but held her gaze. If you want the humans in this classroom to live, you need to snap out of it. Now. Keep your hold on Stefan and Vicki. We'll get them to the woods. We need to get out of this school. NOW. She was practically begging the witch at this point, but she couldn't do anything else until she stopped, the pain was consuming her now, too. She fell to her knees again and reached out for Stefans hand. Stefan, stay with me. You don't want to kill. She barely got out. We're all about to die.NOTES || OUTFIT || here.[/tt]

Ezra was late. Beyond late. The class was already halfway in session no doubt and she was only halfway to school. Today was not shaping up to be any good. she had missed her brother that morning because her she had waited too long to get up. That, and needing a shower had put her very late for class. Now she was running. Her father had offered to give her a ride, or a free pass if she didn't want to show up that late as long as she got her work, but she denied it. she'd rather show up late for the first class, than miss the whole day. Cutting through the square, she zig zagged in and out of people, nearly tripping four or five times as she did. The day was starting bad enough, she didn't need to break her arm on the way. She got a few disapproving looks from a couple of elder people, which she ignored. Finally she had made it to the school, and lo and behold, the door was locked. letting out a very exasperated 'Ugh!' she rapped on the door, hoping there was a janitor or someone nearby. Thankfully there was, and she was let in. The second the door opened she went bolting down the halls, yelling a thank you to the janitor before turning a corner. Counting the room numbers as she jogged, she was close. Two more classrooms, one more... She came to a dead stop in front of the door, took a deep breath to steady away the heaving ones she had from running all that way, and opened the door. She hated coming in late, because when you walked in, everyone stared at you like you'd grown a third head and the teacher would always give that look that reminded you of your parents. Thats what she had expected, but instead it looked like the class was reaching a frenzy point. Half of the class looked like they were about to go bonkers, and the other half looked like they had no idea what was going on, and the teacher seemed to be trying to move on with the lesson in spite of it all. She walked in slowly, mouthing a 'sorry' at the teacher, and giving him a look that hopefully purveyed that it wouldn't happen again. She slunk into one of the few open seats. And as luck would have it, it was smack in the middle of all of the soon to be chaos. She should have just stayed home. Outfit: Here
