secrets:
Most of the front Claire puts up is just a façade. She is still suffering greatly from the death of her brother and the loss a once caring relationship with her parents.
She does not believe that her brother died from an animal attack.
Being in the eyes of the media for such a long time, Claire has been trained in self-defence and she is defiantly able to hold her own (not necessarily against a vampire/werewolf.)
personality: Before her brother’s death Claire was what some would say was the perfect daughter and sister. She was smart, talented, and beautiful. She got good grades and was actively involved at school. She (for the most part) listened to her parent’s and would always try to please them. She was very close with Michael; she would often talk to him about everything and anything and she would cover for him when he needed her to. Her brother was always very protective of her and Claire was crushed by the news of his death.
After his death things started to fall apart for Claire and she started to become the person she had always hated. Claire had become the stereotypical spoilt brat. Claire spent most of her days skipping school to go shopping with her friends, breaking her curfrew to drink and get high with random people she met, she would get involved with all the wrong guys, and would get into arguments with her parents before disappearing for days at a time. Her parents ignored their daughter’s desperate cry for help, hoping if they gave her space she would pull herself together, but space was the last thing Claire needed.
Overall, Claire is still a very smart girl. She is quick-witted and funny when she wants to be but she hates it when people do not think she is able to take care of herself.

history:
Claire Akerman is the only daughter of a French model and an American Senator. Growing up in Los Angeles, California, Claire has been in the public eye since she was old enough to talk. Though her parent’s tried their best to avoid it, Claire and her family’s pictures have often been seen in the national tabloids. Since Claire was young she has attended the finest private institutions all the way up until her senior year. When she was 15 years old, her brother, Michael Akerman, had gone out to a party like he would any other night but this time he did not come home. The next morning a search team had been sent out to find Michael but they came up empty handed it was not until a week later that they had found his body washed up on shore at a local beach. It had been labelled an animal attack and the case was closed. Somewhere deep down Claire did not believe that was what really happened but she had no way to prove otherwise.
As her junior year continued, Claire was finding it very difficult to cope with the loss of her brother. She had sought comfort in alcohol and drugs and often spent her nights at the hottest L.A. parties. Her grades had plummeted and her “outrageous behaviour” had been captured on film and posted in the tabloids. It was not until she had been expelled from school for fighting that her parent’s decided it was time to take action. Their daughter was out of control and her father’s work was suffering because of it. It had been decided: Claire would be sent off to live with her Aunt and Uncle in Mystic Falls, Virginia. There she would be away from the press and would hopefully pull herself together.

Erika was surprised at how fast John had changed places with her so she was now pressed against him and the counter in the boy’s lavatory. Just as quickly, he picked her up and sat her on top of the counter. “Enough of this charade Erika, if you aren’t trying to get something out of me, kiss me…” He demanded. His voice echoed in her head as his words trailed off. Had this not been what she wanted? She could have just gone through his trunk while he was still in the shower; the dare would have been over and no one would have known whether or not he had really been wearing them or how exactly she had gotten them. Instead she had made her way into the boy’s dormitory, drawn to the light coming from under the bathroom door. She knew who stood behind it and even with her boyfriend sound asleep in the room next door she made her way to him. He was a mystery to her; and thanks to their parents her fate was now tied to him. He was her fiancé. She hadn’t had the heart to tell Scott about John. That was, after all, why she had passed on Brooke’s first truth question. No one could know about her being betrothed, not Scott and not Brooke, even if she was Erika’s best friend. Even though Erika knew she was to be married next summer she couldn’t let go of Scott; not yet. If Scott found out now, he would hate her. Since John had already ended things with Brooke, she would get over it soon enough; but Erika was still leading Scott on and somewhere deep inside she knew it. Scott loved her and he was safe. John was so unfamiliar and cold and arrogant and the biggest jerk she had ever met, but there was something in Erika that longed to find some kind of connection to the tall, dark, and handsome man that would soon be her husband and the father of her children, that was not hate or anger. Brooke had fallen for him so he couldn’t have been that bad and Erika was eager to find that side of him.
And with that longing, Erika had followed her gut and pushed open the bathroom door. She would blame it on the dare tomorrow but for now she would let things fall where they landed. Erika snapped to back to reality, her emerald green eyes sparkling with curiosity and anticipation. He was right to question her motives as this was so far away from Erika’s character that she was beginning to question herself. There was a thrill in being here with John: while her boyfriend slept soundly in the next room and while her friends giggled to themselves, waiting for her to return and tell them everything… although she did plan on leaving parts of it out.
Erika looked up at his lips, biting hers lightly before lifting herself to him and brushing her lips gently against his. She felt his body go stiff. It was clear that he had convinced himself that she would simply back down and tell him what she was up to, but that wasn’t going to happen. She pulled back for only a moment, smirking at the look of shock that masked his handsome face before fisting her hand in his wet hair and crushing her lips against his once more. He was hesitant at first, but his lips soon began to move with hers; molding together as if in some crazy way they were made to be one entity. The kiss lasted only a few moments before John pulled away, leaning his forehead against hers. His grey eyes were cloudy with an emotion Erika couldn’t recognize, but, it took only a second for that look to fade and a sly smirk to slither across his lips; almost as if he was bragging, “Okay… I could definitely get used to that,”
