It was lunch time, and Ezra really didn't feel like being in a room crowded with people. There was too much noise and theatrics that she just didn't want to be around that day. No particular reason to it really. She was just feeling solitary. So she was walking around, the last of the students making their way to go eat. Eventually she was the last one in the hall.
It was quiet, in that eerie way that makes you feel like the only person in the whole building. All she could hear we're her own footsteps, and even they were quiet. She walked for awhile, just sort of wandering and pacing around. She was bored. She had never really made any close friends in the few years that she had lived there. Just acquaintances, and people she occasionally went to grab some pizza with. But that was about it. It was a lonely life, sure, but it suited her, and never rally got her down. The most issue she ever had with it was boredom.
After a few minutes of pacing around, and texting her brother, she found herself in front of a window. She leaned there, looking outside. It was dreary out, cloudy and looking like rain would soon come splashing down. She pondered what she would do later after school had let out. Maybe she'd go and hangout in the woods for awhile, or maybe go and sit on the bridge. Something at least.
Lost I thought she hadn't heard quiet footsteps in the hall nor had she felt the presence of someone behind her. She only noticed that she was no longer alone when she saw a faint reflection in the window that made her nearly jump out of her skin..
She jumped, and laughed nervously.
"Sorry, I didn't see you there. " she smiled, the adrenaline still rushing in her.

As soon as the bell rang, Stefan gathered up his books and headed out to lunch. He was actually having a pretty good day, even despite the fact that he was still feeling hungry. But that was pretty par for the course for him. After all, he was living on a diet that was abnormal for vampires. But he had learned how to live with the constant burning ache in his throat and he could usually force it down until he was able to get home to his stash of animal blood. Which was good. He didn't want to lose control. He wasn't going to let that happen...
He glanced out one of the windows and stared at the overcast weather. Well, it certainly fit the pensive mood he had been in for the last couple of days, though weather like this tended to make him jumpy as it had been on a day similar to this last year when he had been kidnapped by the tomb vampires. Definitely not fun. They had put him through Hell because they had all been locked away in their prison while Katherine had escaped. Yeah, he didn't blame them for their anger. He would've been ticked off as well if he had been in their position. Didn't mean he had to like the reminders of that day though.
He gave himself a mental shake as he kept walking and presently, he noticed one of the new girls in school. He frowned in concentration. What was her name again? He honestly couldn't remember. Normally, he would've remembered something like that, but in all honesty, he had been busy dealing with his own problems to pay any attention to a new person in town. To his surprise, she jumped when she saw his reflection in the mirror and then apologized, saying that she hadn't seen him. "Don't worry about it. You're new around here, aren't you?" he asked. Okay, yeah, stupid question. Of course she was new. But at least it gave her an opening.

"Don't worry about it. You're new around here, aren't you?"
Ezra recognized him. She was fairly certain that she had a class or two with him during the week. But that wasn't enough for her to remember his name, unfortunately. But she was at least half sure it began with an S.
"Sort of. I've lived here for 2 years but, since I moved here in the middle of the year I'm just starting school here this year. So I'm new, but not so new." smooth Ezra...real smooth. She extended her hand and smiled.
"I'm Ezra, by the way. Ezra Winchester. " she introduced herself. She leaned against the windowsill slightly. There was that sort of ringing noise when everything was too quiet. Like a dull whistling drone. But then the low rumblings of thunder were heard. They sounded far away at first. Muffled almost. Then the rain started. Sweeping into existence in sheets of droplets. This was why she never trusted the weather. Less than 30% chance of rain her ass.
Since it was only a few minutes into lunch, and he had decided to strike up conversation, she decided to roll with it. She didn't have anywhere to be, and the only plan she had until next period was to sit and look out the window. Which was essentially watching grass grow, and made her realize just how lacking in a social life she really was.
"Have you lived in Mystic Falls long?

Stefan nodded as he listened to her answer as she said that she had lived in Mystic Falls for two years but was just now starting school at Mystic Falls High since she had moved in the middle of the year, so she was new, but not really new. And oddly enough, Stefan completely understood what she meant. "I getcha. But what'd you do for school before you transferred here? Were you in another district?" he wondered as he took her offered hand and shook it. That was the only thing that he could think of for her not being at this particular school. Or maybe she had been home-schooled or something....not that it was any of his business really, but...still...it was strange.
"Stefan Salvatore," he supplied after she had introduced herself. It was a bit odd for a girl to have the name Ezra, but he wasn't about to say so, as he was pretty sure she already had a lot of people commenting on it and he wasn't going to be one more person to do so. Besides, it wasn't like it was that outrageous. "It's nice to meet you. You getting around okay? I know it's pretty easy to get lost in this place," he stated. And that was certainly the truth. In fact, he had gotten a little lost himself when he had first moved here. And so, he was more than happy to offer to show her around if she needed it. It was the polite thing to do.

"I getcha. But what'd you do for school before you transferred here? Were you in another district?" Ezra was momentarily stunned by the question, no one had bothered asking that. To be totally honest, he was the first person yet to really talk to her in the school. When she gave others the 'new but not new' explanation, they usually cocked their heads like confused puppies and went about their business.
"I finished the rest of my courses online. Mostly just email correspondence with the teachers and what not, they'd put my grades in, and once the year was over, it all got transferred here. "
She made a point not to say home or cyber schooled. For some reason people always looked at you like you were retarded when you did. It was absolutely ridiculous, but that's the way people thought about things.
"Stefan Salvatore," she smiled. It was an older styled name. Not one you heard often, or at least not one she heard often. Then again, her name was a bit on the seldom heard scale as well. Especially for a girl. Part of her thought that her parents just wanted her to have a Z in her name like her brother. Or they wanted something 'unique'. But Ezra didn't mind it. She liked her name. It was short and simple, and didn't even require a nickname.
"It's nice to meet you. You getting around okay? I know it's pretty easy to get lost in this place,"
"Likewise. I'm getting around alright I suppose. Only got lost once or twice. must've passed the same bathroom atleast three times before I sucked it up and asked where the hell I was supposed to be." she laughed. Passed the same bathroom, and wound up in the lunchroom twice. Which was loads of fun when everyone went dead silent and stared. Nothing like peers in high school to make you feel really out of place and unwelcome.
She shifted, glancing out the window. Well, she thought to herself, might as well go for it.
"But if you aren't busy later, and its not raining cats and dogs, I could still use a 'tour guide' around town? I've only been to like....five places altogether. I end up walking a different way to school everyday by accident. " she asked, a bit embarrassed. Two years living there and she still got hopelessly lost at times. She didn't spend much time looking around or hanging out with people. So the only places she was really familiar with, were the bridge, the woods, her brothers garage, home, and school.
She'd be more than happy to have a friend, and he seemed nice enough. At the very least, he could be someone to talk to more than the average 'Hi, how're you, good, seeya.'

Stefan nodded at her explanation of finishing courses on-line using e-mail and having the grades transferred to the records in Mystic Falls High when she enrolled. "Oh I see. I bet that made things a bit easier for when you had to enroll," he commented. And it certainly sounded better than having to go to school all the time. Maybe I should keep that in mind for down the line, he thought to himself. It would certainly beat having to move in a few years because he wasn't getting any older. Yeah, he was definitely going to be looking up on-line courses in the future.
He then nodded as she assured him that she was getting around okay only getting lost a couple of times and then passing the same bathroom before finally asking someone where she was supposed to be. "Yeah, I hear that," he agreed with a rueful chuckle. Not that he had ever gotten last in a place after he had turned, but he could remember getting lost a couple of times as a human. It wasn't a fun experience that was for sure.
At her statement that she could use a tour guide if he wasn't busy and it wasn't still raining, he gave her a smile. "Yeah, no problem. It's really easy to get lost in this place even if you've lived here for years," he stated. Poor thing. She shouldn't feel embarrassed about asking for help. But then again, it's not an easy thing for a lot of people to do, he thought to himself. "So, where are ya headed now?" he queried.

She nodded. "Yeah, just a bit. A lot less drama than an actual high school too. Not that I have anything against anyone here." She added. She really didn't. It was just the fact that people her age were bitchy and dramatic. And she didn't really care for it.
She laughed, with a bit of a sheepish grin. To be perfectly honest, she had gotten lost quite a few times, and sometimes more than once a day. She was not at all good with directions and got distracted far too easily. Though getting lost on a daily basis was not something one generally shouted from the roof tops after living somewhere for over a year. People sort of expected you to know your way around by that time.
Ezra looked relieved at his agreement to show her around and smiled to show it. At the very least, maybe she'd be able to actually go somewhere without having to draw up a little mini map for herself. And if things went well, then, maybe she'd have a friend.
"Well as of right now, nowhere really. Should be in lunch right now but.." She chuckled a bit. "I don't really feel like lunch. After that I have Algebra and a free period, and I'm fully intending on abandoning those." MAthematics and then boredom sitting in a classroom? Fat chance. She was ducking out when everyone else came out of the cafeteria.
"Going to be ducking out during the post lunch masses. I'm not against a partner in crime, if you'd want to join?" She put her hands in her pockets, giving him a friendly albeit curious look.

Stefan smiled and nodded s Ezra agreed that doing on-line classes had helped her transfer to Mystic Falls, saying that it had cut back on the drama of a regular high school, adding that she didn't have anything against the kids at Mystic Falls. "No, it's fine. I totally understand what you mean," he assured. Teenagers were always dealing with one thing or another, even without the Supernatural stuff. With the Supernatural stuff, it just made everything even more intense. But he supposed that was just the way it was. It wasn't like he could change it. At least...not by himself. And especially not on his current diet. No, on the bunny diet, he was at a pretty big disadvantage. But hey, at least he didn't go psycho and black out. That was a plus.
Stefan's smile grew when Avril seemed to be pleased with his agreeing to show her around. Well, hey, as least he was able to help someone. When he asked her where she had to be, she replied that she didn't have anywhere to be as she was on her lunch period, saying that afterwards she had Algebra and a free period, both of which she planned on ditching. "I don't blame you for wanting to ditch Algebra," he admitted. It was a tough subject, one that he had even had trouble with when it was first introduced. Of course, he had eventually gotten the hang of it and was now pretty much an expert on it. Didn't mean he liked it though. In fact, he loathed it.
He then laughed as she mentioned ditching again, saying that she wasn't opposed to a partner in crime and asking if he wanted to be it. "Sure, why not? It's not like I"m that big on Algebra either," he stated. And besides, maybe blowing off steam was exactly what he needed. Heck, he had been good for so long that he deserved to have a little fun. And it wasn't like he was planning on killing anyone. He'd be fine. Hopefully...

Ezra was glad that he understood that she wasn't saying she had something against everyone else. She really didn't, she just liked her solitude really. Though her solitude was one of the biggest reasons she didn't have very many friends in Mystic Falls. Two years living there and only had an acquaintance here and there. Yeah...she needed to work on that. And it looked like Stefan was going to be her attempt. He seemed nice enough, and didn't exactly look threatening or anything.
She laughed as he agreed with her ditching. "Yeah, algebra and I go together about as well as a match and some kerosene." Numbers were not her strong suit at all. They weren't even a suit. They were a complete and total mystery. She could do general math and thaaaaat was about it. When letters got involved it was just awful and confusing.
He wanted to join her. She smiled brightly at that, quite happy that she had a chance to get to know someone as well as figure out the rest of the town. As the lunch bell rang and students filed out to their classes, she raised her eyebrows and grinned. "I hope you don't need anything from your locker, come on!" She whispered and laughed, taking his hand and pulling him along behind her as she led them outside in all the chaos of their peers.
Went they reached the outside of the school, she kept going until they wouldn't be seen and chastised by any faculty, letting go of his hand once they were clear.

Stefan nodded in understanding as she said that her and algebra were like a match and kerosene. "Combustible, huh?" he asked. Yeah, he could understand that. But hey, at least once you passed the subject, you never had to deal with it again. Well eventually. There was pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, etc. It was all a big sequence, and not really a sequence he enjoyed. Yes, he loathed the subject. It wasn't really like he had any use for it when he was studying to be a doctor. Well, not much anyway. He supposed he'd probably need simple math for dosages and such, but he probably wouldn't have needed to know x over y or some similar crap. But hey, who asked him? He was just a seventeen-year old kid who was living with his older brother. It wasn't like he had invented the subject. If he had, he would've made it extremely easy for people to understand it.
He then pushed these thoughts aside as she said that she hoped that he didn't need anything from his locker and to follow her, which he did, letting her take his hand and pull him down the hall and out of the school, and once they were out of sight of everybody else, she dropped his hand from hers. "So, where do you want to go?" he wondered. Hopefully, she had a place in mind, though if she didn't, he could probably suggest a couple of places they could go to have a good time. And yes, he knew how to have a good time. He was just afraid that he'd allow himself to get caught up with what he was doing, take a sip of human blood, and then he'd turn back into the monster he had been in eighteen sixty-four. And that was something that he couldn't allow to happen. He couldn't run the risk of him losing control. But he definitely needed a break and this little outing would be just what he needed.
