Caroline is a lot like her mother. She has always been strong and independent and determined except when it comes to guys. Most guys in her town like Elena a lot more than her so she is a little skeptical when it comes to guys who act like they like her especially after Damon since he used her. She is a loyal friend but can get a bit competitive. She is sweet and kind and caring. She has ocd big time and she always wants to be the one to plan the parties and big events that her school hosts. She constantly tries to win at everything she does because she wants to be the best for once instead of Elena. She can be a bit jealous of Elena sometimes but she doesn’t tell her that. She just keeps her emotions inside.

Caroline Elizabeth Forbes was born on June 30th in 1992. She was born to the parents of Bill and Elizabeth Forbes. Her first name comes from one of her aunts on her mother’s side of the family and then her middle name comes from her mother Elizabeth Forbes. Caroline is an only child so growing up she always wanted siblings. She feels like her best friends Elena Gilbert and Bonnie Bennett were like her sisters. Growing up Caroline loved her parents. She thought they were the perfect family until she was ten and her parents split up. Four years after that Caroline found out that her father was gay. She couldn’t believe it and she had a hard time after her father left. She cared about her parents and she felt like her mother drove him away. She felt a little hatred towards her mother for that even though she still loved her mother more than anything she was just a little angry at her.
During the summer after her tenth grade year her best friend Elena Gilbert lost both her parents in a car accident. She was there for Elena throughout the entire summer after that. She felt bad for her friend because she knew how Elena was about family. During the first day back at school she saw Stefan Salvatore and she immediately wanted him. At the back to school bonfire Caroline tried to get with Stefan but he told her no and showed interest in Elena. She was beyond mad so she got drunk to get her mind off of Stefan. Later after she went to the Mystic Grill with Bonnie and talked about the night and drinked coffee to sober up before she went home.
Soon after Stefan rejected her she met his older brother Damon Salvatore. Little did she know that Damon was just using her for his own entertainment and for his own means. Caroline had been compelled though so everything Damon had been doing to her she didn’t see it as bad. Caroline went with Damon to the founder’s day parade, he was her escort. They both found an amber stone that Damon told her belong to him. So she was okay that he took it. While with Damon Caroline constantly had to wear scarves to hide the bite marks and bruises that Damon kept giving her.
One day Elena started noticing the bruises that Caroline had. Of course Caroline told her that they were nothing and to leave her alone. Caroline was taken by Damon because he was upset that Elena had found out what he had been doing to Caroline, even though she hadn’t told Elena anything. He fed on her but became weakened. Stefan arrived and told them that he spiked Caroline’s drink with vervain. Caroline woke up and realized that Damon was gone. She saw his crystal and took it.
Caroline gave Bonnie the amber crystal as part of her witches Halloween costume. Caroline was confronted by Damon wanting his crystal back but she told him that she didn’t have it and that she had given it to Bonnie. Caroline tried to get the crystal back but Bonnie wouldn’t let her have it back. Damon breaks up with her because she couldn’t get the crystal back. Caroline drowns her sorrows in whiskey and whatever alcohol she could get her hands on. Matt later drove her home and she asks him not to leave her alone. Caroline started dating Matt after they talked.
