Personality as a vampire: As a vampire her previous personality as a human was heightened, but she has also changed. Caroline went on to change dramatically as her life as a human ended. She's seen what the world is really like, and that reality has matured her. She now puts the needs or the people she cares about before her own and is very protective of her mother and friends. Caroline is also someone who likes to 'fix things' as she has often shown whenever her friends are in trouble. Caroline has a sweet, bubbly personality and is the type of person that will try to cheer others up even to the point where she becomes 'smothering'. She also tries to keep traits from whenever she was human...meaning her humanity. She doesn't kill humans (although she has in the past), and wants to protect the innocents in her town. Caroline is big on trust and loyalty. An example of this could be whenever Caroline was taken by the werewolves. History: Caroline grew up in the small town of Mystic Falls. For most of her life it was a quiet town. A town where "Nothing bad ever happened." Then Damon and Stefan Salvatore moved to town. To Caroline, they were just the hot new guys. As a human she was the stereotypical shallow popular cheerleader. She meant well, but would often say or do things that were cruel. An example of this could be whenever she said "Elena used to be fun. That was before her parents died." Whenever Stefan Salvatore first joined Mystic Falls High, Caroline had her sights set on him. She wanted him for herself, but her quickly made it clear that he wasn't interested in her, but instead in her best friend Elena Gilbert. Of course, Caroline being shallow was jealous and upset about this. She is quoted saying "How come the guys I want..never want me? I try so hard, and I'm never the one." As her character is explored, it becomes obvious that there is more to her than just the self-absorbed control freak. She is very caring, and loves to fix things. She is the person that someone would go to if they needed advice, and she is also very honest. Caroline then started dating Damon Salvatore. He would feed from her, use her to do things for him and then compel her to forget - as he was a vampire. Eventually she and Damon stopped seeing one another after Elena saw the bite marks on Caroline's neck and back and told Damon to stay away from her. She would go on to begin dating Matt Donovan. Whenever she saw that Matt was still in love with Elena, her jealous side once more surfaced. She would constantly to to 'stake her claim' on Matt whenever Elena was around. She and Matt fell in love, and although they still had problems, Caroline tried to change herself...better herself so that her relationship with Matt could work. As for her relationship with her mother, it wasn't a very good one. They barely spoke and it was obvious that they didn't get along very well. Caroline thought that Liz wasn't around enough and that she didn't care or pay attention to her as much as she could because Liz was so involved in her work. Caroline didn't see her father very often as he and Liz had divorced years before. Liz and Bill didn't get along and would barely spent minutes in the same room together without arguing. Bill had left Liz whenever it was revealed that he was gay. He moved to live in Georgia with his 'partner' Steven. Caroline's family is one of the Founding Families. Meaning her family is one of the original familes that founded Mystic Falls in 1860. Liz is the Sheriff of Mystic Falls and was a part of the Town Council (small council). The Town Council were members of the founding families that's purpose was to protect the town from vampires. Bill Forbes was also a member of this council until he died.
Caroline was in a car with Tyler and Matt whenever Tyler began to hear a strange sound that let to them getting into a car accident. Caroline passed out on the scene and was rushed to the hospital. The doctors informed her mother and friends that although they were going to do everything they could, they weren't sure if Caroline was going to survive. Elena convinced Damon to feed her his blood to save her life. He did so, and then Katherine Pierce smothered Caroline with a pillow, telling her that she wanted her to give a message to the Salvatores: 'Game on.' Needless to say, since Caroline had vampire blood in her system whenever she died, she came back in transition as a vampire. She was alone for most of her transition but figured out what was happening to her as her memories of what Damon had done and then compelled her to forget slowly returned. She struggled at first, drinking a blood bag in the hospital and then feeding from a nurse before accidentally compelling her not to tell anyone what she had done. She then confronted Damon, which led to him, Elena and Stefan finding out that Caroline was a vampire. Damon wanted to kill her, thinking that she would only be a problem and would expose all of them, but Elena and Stefan convinced him not to. Stefan instead began teaching Caroline how to control her urges, and even tried to get her to adopt the animal diet. Bonnie did not trust Caroline whenever she was first turned, but was convinced to make her a daylight ring so that she would walk in the sun. Eventually Caroline being a vampire led to her and Matt breaking up. She began to get control of her urges and thrived as a vampire. Later on Caroline fell in love with Tyler Lockwood whenever she helped him through this transition as a werewolf. She told him that she was alone during her transition and didn't want him to be alone like she had. Caroline loves the person that she now is compared to who she had been as a human. She loves being strong, fast and immortal. She has control over herself and finds life as a vampire to be very full-filling. Caroline also has a complicated history with Klaus who is the Original Hybrid. He liked Caroline and although he had done terrible things to her friends, Caroline was still drawn to him. She fights against her feelings for Klaus, but eventually the two become 'friends' of sorts.

Caroline got into her car and relaxed against the seat, letting out a huge sigh. It had been a long day. She was excited because soon she would start college. She had went with Elena today, exploring the campus, meeting teachers and finding out which dorm she would stay in. Caroline was a bit nervous. College was completely different from high school. She was glad that Elena was going to be her roommate, but had found out that they were also going to have another roommate..and it wasn't Bonnie like she had planned. That upset her. She wanted all of them to share a room but Bonnie had just disappeared after Graduation. Jeremy had come back telling them that she was out of town. It was a huge shock to see him, but Caroline was happy for Elena. Apparently Bonnie had managed to do a spell that brought him back to life. That meant that obviously her friend was packing a huge amount of power, and it sucked that she had left before even saying goodbye to anyone. She had hated how Elena had been whenever she had turned her humanity off. She was a completely different person and that had been the point where Caroline swore that she would never make that decision. She would never shut her humanity off no matter what happened. She didn't want to lose touch with who she was. She opened her eyes, buckled her seat belt and then put her keys in the ignition before starting her car. Caroline pulled out of the College Campus parking lot and began driving back to Mystic Falls. She was glad that it was over with, and now that she was alone, she could get back to wondering where the hell Tyler was. Klaus had came to Caroline's graduation and told her that Tyler was free to return to Mystic Falls..before he left and went back to New Orleans. That had been three months ago. She had tried calling Tyler, and doing anything that she could to get in touch with him, but he never replied. At this point, she was beginning to think that maybe she had to move on. Maybe Tyler wasn't ever coming back. She was tired of lying in bed every night crying over him...
Caroline was lost in her thoughts and found herself pulling into the parking lot at The Grill. She shrugged and got out of the car, making her way up the sidewalk and then inside. She could use a drink. She shook her head and laughed to herself. Day-time drinking. This sounded like something Damon would do. Walking over to the bar she took a seat and looked around to see if she could spot anyone familiar. Matt wasn't there of course. He had taken off for the summer - with Rebekah of all people. Caroline didn't like it. Matt was such a sweet person, and Rebekah was...Rebekah. She was a horrible, spoiled brat that killed people whenever she didn't get her way. She had already killed Elena and tried to kill Matt. What was he thinking? She ordered a Bourbon and laughed out loud. She wasn't one to judge. Not with her history with Klaus. If she were being honest with herself...she thought about Klaus far more than she should. She had actually begun to miss him. There was no denying he could be charming when he wanted to...and his accent. She had a soft-spot for his accent, although she would never admit it to anyone. Over the summer she began to realize that she had feelings for Klaus. Of course other people - even Damon and Elena seemed to know that before she had. Elena had told her she should turn her humanity off so that she wouldn't feel guilty about the 'dirty little thoughts' she had about Klaus. It was embarrassing how close to the truth Elena had been on that one. Somehow...while she had been busy fighting her feelings for him and convincing her self that she hated him..the Hybrid had snuck his way into her heart. She missed the way he called her 'love', and 'sweetheart'...she missed his charm. She missed him in general. She wasn't surprised that he had moved to New Orleans..she knew that a small town like Mystic Falls wouldn't have held his interest for long..but she was hurt. Drinking her shot, she was consumed with her thoughts whenever she heard someone sit down beside her. Not paying them any attention, her eyes widened whenever she heard a familiar voice and her head whipped around. "Klaus? What are you doing back in Mystic Falls?" She said, confusion and shock evident in her voice. 'Speak of the devil.' she thought, all the while waiting to see how he would respond. "I thought you had moved on...from Mystic Falls and planned on staying in New Orleans." She said, pausing on the last part. She had been about to say that she had been afraid he had moved on from her. That had been what it felt like after he left. She had begun to regret all the times that she had turned him down and said cruel things to him. He may have done horrible things in the past...but Caroline had always been his first choice. That meant something to Caroline. As she had been everyone's second choice. She had been Elena's back-up whenever Bonnie wasn't around, and even when she had dated Matt. Matt had only been with her because he knew that he and Elena would never be together..but Klaus was different. He had shown an interest in only her since the time he came to town. She was glad to see him, and wondered what he was doing back.
