Elena woke up that morning with tears in her eyes. She felt like she hadn't stopped crying since she found out Stefan cheated on her. She threw the covers off of her and walked into her bathroom. She wiped her face from all the dried up tears and the new ones. Elena looked herself in the mirror and shook her head. She couldn't do this. She couldn't be a vampire and she sure as hell couldn't do it alone. The one person who said he'd always be there for her, lied. He wasn't there. He was off with other girls. If there was Anna she was sure there was more.
Elena looked down at her hand, at her ring more specifically. Bonnie made her a ring and now Elena was wondering why she even asked. She walked out of her room and down the stairs. She walked into the living room and stared out the window. She stared for a few good minute as she twirled the ring around on her finger, before taking it off her finger and holding it in her hand. She dropped the ring to the ground and quickly felt her skin start to burn.

Stefan blew out a breath as he drove down the road that led to the Gilbert house. He was hoping that she was still there, but he wouldn't be surprised if she had told Jenna and Jeremy to not let him in. He knew that he had screwed up really bad. But that was just typical of him. He was always screwing things up. Okay, he had to stop thinking like this. He wasn't going over to the Gilberts to throw himself a pity party. He was going there to see if Elena needed any help in dealing with her new vampire status. Not that she was likely to accept it from him, but he could at least try.
Finally, he was at the house and he parked the car in the driveway before shutting off the engine. Then, his eyes flickered with some confusion as he got the faint scent of something burning. It kinda smelled like flesh. Flesh? Burning? Damn it! Using his vampire speed, he raced into the house, followed the smell, and then went to jump on Elena, intending to pull her away from the sun. "What the hell are you thinking?!" he asked, unable to keep the panic and fright out of his voice. "This isn't the answer, Elena! This is never the answer!" he told her. Okay, so maybe it was a little hypocritical of him considering that he had tried the same thing, but he didn't care. He just wanted to make sure that Elena didn't try something like this again. "What about Jeremy or your Aunt Jenna? How do you think they'd feel if they had been the ones to walk in on you or had found you? Surely you don't want to hurt them like that," he said. He had to get her to see reason. And to find her ring. Where was the ring? He looked around and found it close to where she had been standing. Okay, good. She didn't just throw it away, he thought to himself. He then quickly went to the spot that she had dropped her ring, picked it up, and then went back to where he had left her. "Now then, you want to explain to me what this little sunbath was about?" he queried.
