A sigh slipped from between her lips as she gazed out across the darkness. She loved being free on the nights when there was no moon. Night had always been her favorite time of day. It still was. Her gray eyes illuminated in the light of the crescent moon. All of her memories of the night had been great. The day time, not so much. Turning, she leaned up against the tree and pulled her knees to her chest. Her arms wrapped around her shins as she dropped her head onto her knees. She had a strange habit of sitting in trees. She just felt better there. She had never been able to explain it, it's just the way she was.
Her eyes drifted to the water that, at this point in the river, seemed rather calm. I want to go for a swim. It had been so long she had gone swimming. Being in big cities had made it hard for her to find anywhere to do that. Although every now and then a guy would know of a pool or a pond that they could go swim in. A smile crossed her face as she remembered being in San Francisco. Rafael had taken her to a pool that wasn't his. He had always managed to find trouble. After stripping down to their underwear and getting in the pool, the owner came out. They had, had to leave their clothes. She missed those days.
The urge overwhelmed her. Jumping down from the tree, she walked over to the edge of the river and smiled. Do I really want to do this now? With a roll of her eyes she pulled her shirt over her head and slipped off her jeans. Her heels were already off and sitting at the edge of the tree. She took a step back, before jumping into the water. Head under, the water pierced her to the bone. As she exploded back up to the surface, she bit back a scream. “Oh my god! That's freezing!” Still, it was nice to be able to swim. If she died right there because of hypothermia, at least she would die happy. --> SENTINELS OF PAIN ON THEIR MISSION ONCE AGAINHE SEND THEM OUT TO ROAM( HALF DOG MEN, HAUNTING YOUR LIVES ) - - - - - - - - - - A week. One whole and very long week that he has been here at Mystic Falls and he was honestly getting bored out of his wits. He got settled in fairly quickly at his ancestral home because well, he didn’t really bring much, just his clothes and bare necessities. He had already got done with the shopping so his kitchen was fairly stocked. For days he had been doing some studying and well, he can do only so much reading and research. He wasn’t exactly used to just sitting around and do more reading than he usually do. So, after dinner and watching a bit of television, the twenty year old decided to do a bit of a jog around town. It was an unusual habit he knew that but hey, to each his own that was what he always said.
He had started around the surrounding area of where his ancestral home was. Whenever he would come across a local that happened to be his neighbor he would politely greet them good evening and at one point, he had to stop when an elderly couple asked him if he was the current owner of the Cole ancestral home. Rafael stayed for a bit and chatted with them politely answering their basic questions which he didn’t exactly mind. They were just curious after all and he couldn’t exactly blame them. Besides, the questions they have been asking him were innocent enough for him to answer. He was there to take care of the house as well as start a new life at Mystic Falls. Kind of like trying to make it on his own without his parents’ help. Of course that was far from the truth but they didn’t have to know. Actually, no one had to know why he was there except maybe if he stumbled upon other hunters or werewolves like him.
After the little chat he had with the couple, he went back to his evening jog. Rafael jogged aimlessly around town and finally reached the place they called Drowning Creek. He could hear the calm running water and that made him smile. Slowing to a stop, he took a deep breath and took in a breath of fresh air. Everything was clearly different around here. He had never been this close to nature and he could honestly tell the difference between being in a city and a small town such as this. Mystic Falls wasn’t that bad although of course he was sure that his circle of friend would not agree. They were all used to being in the city including him. But for some reason, being around in a place like this was something that he could tolerate.
Exhaling softly, he looked at his wristwatch. He supposed he should be heading back so deciding that he had had enough much needed exercise. He poised to make his way back to his ancestral home until he heard a splash of water. Rafael knitted his brows and stopped. He turned his head at the direction of where he had heard it.
“Oh my god! That's freezing!”
A soft huff escaped his lips when he heard that. Now he didn’t know if the stunt had been hilarious or crazy, probably both but it had him curious. From the sound of it, it was a girl and that got him interested. Pivoting his heel, he made his way towards the area of where the water was and spotted a lone figure that was currently threading the apparently freezing water. It was fairly dark so he honestly couldn’t make out her face. Even with his heightened sense of sight, it wasn’t enough for him to make out a very clear face.
”Kind of a drastic move on your part don’t you think?” He couldn’t help but ask as he approached the edge of the water.

Floating on her back, she hadn't heard as Rafael approached the water. His voice surprised her. She instantly began to look around, until she saw a figure on the water's edge. Why does that voice sound familiar? she wondered squinting through the darkness. Despite wanting to know who it was, for now she kept her distance from the edge. She didn't want to be one of the hunters that had been following her.
“And drastic?” She responded. “I feel that isn't an appropriate word to use. It's an adventure.” With this a smile crossed her face and she swam a little bit closer. “Although that's an odd question. Shouldn't your question be why am I out so late and swimming in a river?” It was not a normal question she got from humans. “Besides nothing could stop me from going swimming. Not even if the river were frozen with ice. It's like my favorite thing in the world.” She tipped backwards so that she was floating on her back. Her natural warm body temperature usually kept her warm while swimming no matter the temperature of the water. It was one of her few traits as a werewolf.
“May I ask who is standing on the river's edge?” She really wanted to know who was standing next to her clothes. Not that Nathalie had a problem with walking around in her underwear, but she did have some decency. That and why the voice sounded familiar. It was very uncommon for her to come across a voice she had heard before. Her curiosity was overwhelming and forced her to swim even closer, although she only came close enough to where she could touch. Please tell me this wasn't a mistake. Tag: Rafael Outfit: HereNotes:

--> SENTINELS OF PAIN ON THEIR MISSION ONCE AGAINHE SEND THEM OUT TO ROAM( HALF DOG MEN, HAUNTING YOUR LIVES ) - - - - - - - - - - For some reason his instincts told him that she was a familiar one but with the lack of lighting it was really that hard for him to tell if his instincts were indeed correct or not. As the figure in the water continued to move, Rafael kept his eyes on her. He couldn’t help but notice how she avoided to go near the edge. It was a wise move on her part since technically he was a stranger. A complete and total one at that. Not that he had every bad intention or anything. He didn’t. He just thought that it had been a wise move on her part.
“And drastic? I feel that isn't an appropriate word to use. It's an adventure.”
See? Even her voice was familiar. He was definitely sure he had heard it before and it didn’t take his memory long to place a face with her voice. But of course the twenty year old wanted to be really sure before he said anything. Hey, she could just have the same voice as that girl he met a while back which he hadn’t really seen or heard from for a long time. At least he felt that it had really been that long ago.
“Although that's an odd question. Shouldn't your question be why am I out so late and swimming in a river? Besides nothing could stop me from going swimming. Not even if the river were frozen with ice. It's like my favorite thing in the world.”
Rafael shrugged his shoulders ever so slightly. Although he didn’t want to reply again and give away his voice, he couldn’t exactly just not answer. It would have been rude of him if he did that. After all, he didn’t plan on keeping his identity from her for a long time. It’s not like he had to avoid letting her know who he was or anything of that sort. And all honesty, he was actually excited to have his path cross with hers. So this was where her two feet brought her? It really was a small world.
”To each his own that’s what I always say. I mean I don’t like people asking me why the hell I take jogs every night instead of every morning so who am I to ask your intentions of going for a swim at this time of night?” He replied back to her not even bothering to cover his voice. If she was who he assumed and guessed she was, she deserved to know then.
“May I ask who is standing on the river's edge?”
The young man knitted his brows into a slight crease. Had he been wrong? He knew he wasn’t because there was only one girl he knew who loved swimming. Hell he even took her to a pool that wasn’t his which got them into a bit of trouble but it was worth it. She had been worth it. A smile lifted up the corners of his mouth as he looked at the figure in the water.
”I’m surprised I’m that easy to forget…” He pointed out to her. ”I’m pretty sure you know me. Or well, knew me.” He added. The smile eventually turned into a rather mischievous smirk.
”Small world ain’t it Nat?”

Nathalie listened carefully to the voice as the dark figure spoke to her. Why does that just sound so familiar, she wondered. “Well you are definitely different from most people,” she responded. “Most people are born to judge despite if what they do is also weird.” She was starting to feel more calm around whomever was in front of her and so she swam a little closer. I have to figure out who this is. After all, it's not like she was in the best predicament if it was someone that she didn't want it to be.
Easy to forget? she wondered. So he must know me! It perplexed her. She was having the hardest time figuring out who it was. Although when he spoke her name, she knew in a heartbeat who it was. “Rafael?” she mustered quietly. “But.. how? Why?” She couldn't believe it. She had never imagined running into him of all people. Knowing who it was filled her with confusion, slight fear but also memories of all the fun they had had together. With that she climbed out of the water and gave him a hug.
“Oh I'm sorry,” she said letting go and backing up. “I probably smell like wet dog.” She couldn't stop smiling. “Although you don't smell much better,” she joked biting her lip. Out of all the people she had had a relationship with, Rafael was probably one of the few people she ever wanted to see again. “What are you doing in Mystic Falls?” she asked as she stood in her underwear in front of him. She didn't even worry about it in front of Rafael. It definitely wasn't the first time he'd seen her like that. Tag: Rafael Outfit: HereNotes:

--> SENTINELS OF PAIN ON THEIR MISSION ONCE AGAINHE SEND THEM OUT TO ROAM( HALF DOG MEN, HAUNTING YOUR LIVES ) - - - - - - - - - - “Well you are definitely different from most people,”
Unfortunately he wasn’t most people and he didn’t even know where to begin to describe how different he was than most people. For one he had a secret that only a handful of people knew about. He was sure that he could only count them using one hand and it probably wouldn’t reach all five fingers. At least that was what he thought.
When he finally called out the nickname he often used, Rafael stood there and waited for her reaction. Had she already forgotten about him? He was pretty sure that the time they spent together had been unforgettable. At least in his point of view it was. He couldn’t the say the same with her because he didn’t exactly control her mind and her memories. The twenty year old could only hope that she could still remember.
And then she called out his name. That word alone made him smile wider. She remembered! They had only spent two weeks together and it was safe to say that it had been the best two weeks of his life. She was some sort of break that he needed in his life that was why he made sure she had fun with him.
“But.. how? Why?”
The young man chuckled softly. ”Well…” He started off but was cut off abruptly when she gave him a hug. ”Oh man…” He said as he hugged her in return. He could feel the water seep through his hoodie, shirt and sweat pants. He didn’t mind though although he made it sound like he did. Just to tease her. ”I didn’t see that coming…” He added as he chuckled again.
“Oh I'm sorry, I probably smell like wet dog. Although you don't smell much better,”
He rolled his eyes. ”Hey, we don’t smell like a wet dog. This isn’t Twilight and I’m pretty sure you’re not Bella Swan and I’m not Jacob Black.” He pointed out to her. ”Of course I do have something in common with him.” He added with a smile. He supposed that was a running joke with them and it was something that he really didn’t mind.
“What are you doing in Mystic Falls?”
”My dad sent me here. You know, finding my roots kind of thing.” He replied back to her. ”Apparently this is the town my ancestors originated from so yeah. Here I am.” He added. As he looked at her, he tilted his head at an angle.
”This another place, another town for you?” He figured to ask. After all, he knew she didn’t exactly stay at one place long enough to actually feel at home.

Nathalie took another step back from him with her hands placed on her hips. “Didn't see that coming?” she repeated giving him a rather disapproving look. “I would hope you know me better than that. Especially after the time we spent together,” she added as she bit her lip. “Besides, I missed being able to hug you. There aren't very many people I can say that about.” She smiled at him brightly. “Even werewolves,” she added. There were almost no werewolves that she wanted to see again. Only Rafael and Mason Lockwood. Those were the only two she had run into that she would want to see again.
“Hey, you may not, but I think I sure do. I haven't had a proper shower in days,” she informed him, running a hand through her soaking wet hair. “Don't even compare our lives to that trash.” She had always had a deep hatred for Twilight. It seemed so stupid. “Besides, who wants a girl that trips every ten seconds and can't show any emotion.” The corners of her lips curled up again as she stepped up to him and gave him another hug. This time she didn't let go. “I miss being able to talk to someone like this,” she whispered to him.
As he spoke of why he was here, she forced herself to let go. “Ancestors?” she questioned. “It must be nice to know where yours come from.” Her tone was sprinkled with sadness. After all, she hadn't met her mother. She only knew that she had come from Italy and her father hardly every spoke about himself. The tip of his head, made her smile again though. Rafael had always been good at making her smile. “Me?” she started. “Actually I have a real reason for being here.” She paused waiting for a surprised face of some sort. “I'm looking for Mason Lockwood. He's another werewolf. I might actually stay here... longer than normal that is. This place is different. I feel almost...” she paused letting her gaze drop. “I don't even know how to explain it. This place seems more like home, than my home did.” Looking up at him, it was obvious how serious she was. Tag: Rafael Outfit: HereNotes:

--> SENTINELS OF PAIN ON THEIR MISSION ONCE AGAINHE SEND THEM OUT TO ROAM( HALF DOG MEN, HAUNTING YOUR LIVES ) - - - - - - - - - - He nodded when she repeated his statement of not seeing the gesture coming. That was the truth. He really had not seen that coming after all they hadn’t seen each other for a long time. Anything could happen and there really was a possibility that she could have forgotten about him already. Rafael was just glad that that had not been the case.
“Besides, I missed being able to hug you. There aren't very many people I can say that about. Even werewolves,”
The twenty year old smiled at her. ”I was just being on the safe side and not expected anything. I mean we haven’t seen each other in a while and I wasn’t sure if you still remembered me or not. I guess I was wrong to do that.” He replied back to him and admitting that it was a bad idea for him to actually play on the safe side. It was actually a side of him that he didn’t show her back when they first met. He did that when his father was around but now that he was actually free to do anything, it quite baffled him why he had done that in the first place. He most likely just didn’t want to get disappointed if ever she did the opposite. It was the only possible answer.
“Hey, you may not, but I think I sure do. I haven't had a proper shower in days,”
He chuckled softly. ”Well you don’t. Trust me. I’m sure you still took care of yourself well even without the proper shower,” He pointed out to her. And when she reacted with slight violence against what he said about that book, he couldn’t help but chuckle. What? He couldn’t help it! He knew that it would get a reaction out of her. It was something that just entertained him. The next moved she made though was something he welcomed. His circled his arms around her in return and embraced her back tightly.
“I miss being able to talk to someone like this,”
That brought a tender smile on his lips. ”Or you could just say you missed me.” He pointed out. ”I missed you.” He added after a few seconds of silence. And it was the truth. It may only had been two weeks but it had been the best two weeks of his life. Honestly.
When she finally let go, he nodded in confirmation in reply to her repeated question.
“It must be nice to know where yours come from.”
Rafael pressed his lips. ”It’s a lot of research though. My father didn’t exactly tell me the details before I came here. I just know that this was where it all began.” He replied back to her softly. He knew how sensitive this subject was for her although she hadn’t been quite detailed about it when she told him a bit of herself when they first met.
“Actually I have a real reason for being here.”
The twenty year old male knitted his brows slightly at what she revealed to him. That was the first time he had heard her say that because for the most part she was always passing through. Now she had an actual reason for being in a particular town? He wondered what that was.
“I'm looking for Mason Lockwood. He's another werewolf. I might actually stay here... longer than normal that is. This place is different. I feel almost... I don't even know how to explain it. This place seems more like home, than my home did.”
He honestly didn’t know what to make of that but he didn’t question it. ”Maybe because this place mean something to you. If you need help with research and finding that Mason guy just let me know. Actually, if you need to place to stay, I have a huge house all to myself. I don’t mind sharing it with you if you want.” He couldn’t help but offer. Hey, they were friends. Friends help each other out last time he checked.

Nathalie shot him a disappointed look. “Forget about you?” she repeated. “I'm insulted Rafael,” she scolded him with a playful smile. “Besides, how on earth could I ever forget you.” With that she placed a hand on his shoulder. “Especially after all the time we spent together.” Her expression had turned coy as her gray eyes peered at him through the darkness.
Stepping up to him, she closed the space between them. “Thanks,” she said. “You always were so sweet,” she whispered to him. She didn't realize how much she had missed being around him. Especially when he said that he missed her. “I did miss you Rafael. More than I can say,” she said. Although it was true. She missed him a lot because he was one of the few people that knew anything about her. Nathalie wasn't one to trust very easily, but with him it came naturally.
“That's more than I know,” she responded quietly. All she knew was that her mother had come from Italy. Nothing more. “Well maybe you can find some details out,” she said with a more cheery voice. “Although, you'll have to come have some fun with me too.” Her tone was almost threatening as she grabbed his shirt and tugged on it playfully.
“Well he told me where he is living. I went there the other day, but he wasn't home. I met Tyler instead.” As she spoke his name, her lips curled into a smile. Not coy or playful like she normally did, but this time rather sweet. She liked Tyler. He had caught her eye, but in a different way than Rafael had. Rafael was someone Nathalie had fun with, but Tyler just seemed more serious than that. “I think Mason will not let me stay somewhere besides his house. He treats me like his little sister. It's nice having someone like that.” Her father had never watched out for her. He was always busy with his own thing.

--> SENTINELS OF PAIN ON THEIR MISSION ONCE AGAINHE SEND THEM OUT TO ROAM( HALF DOG MEN, HAUNTING YOUR LIVES ) - - - - - - - - - - “Forget about you?”
Rafael nodded. ”Hey, it’s possible.” He pointed out to her. Anything was possible anyway and of course there was this slight possibility that she may have forgotten about him although of course that would leave him a bit disappointed. It would only mean one thing. He hadn’t made a mark on her that made him unforgettable.
“I'm insulted Rafael,”
The twenty year old male brought his hand up and lightly scratched the back of his ear as he half smirked in response to her playful smile. When she revealed that she had no ability to forget about him because of the time they spent together, the smirk of his came into full view. At least now he had been assured that he had indeed made a mark on her somewhat. Honestly it was safe to say that she was someone he certainly had fun with. Tons if he does say so himself.
When she stepped up to him, Rafael stood his ground and allowed such an intimate encounter with her to happen yet again. Hearing her profess that she too missed him, his hands instantly moved to rest on her bare waist. The dampness of her skin was something he hadn’t found annoying. It was just great to be this close to her especially when he had been honest about admitting that he missed her. Rafael had to admit that he found a great friend in her even if they only spent two weeks together.
“Well maybe you can find some details out, Although, you'll have to come have some fun with me too.”
That made him chuckle softly. ”Hey, I’m not going to object with you on that one. I do need to take a break one of these days.” He replied back to her. Hmm. It looked like he now had something else to look forward to and he couldn’t help but feel a bit invigorated. Now for this Lockwood character. He couldn’t help but offer her his help. It was in his nature to help out a friend. That and he was curious as who this guy was.
“Well he told me where he is living. I went there the other day, but he wasn't home. I met Tyler instead.”
One of his brows rose up. Tyler? Great, now he needed to find out more about another guy. Not that he was jealous or anything. He just felt the need to protect her somehow because just like he had mentioned, he found a great and good friend in her.
“I think Mason will not let me stay somewhere besides his house. He treats me like his little sister. It's nice having someone like that.”
Rafael nodded. ”Well if you change your mind my offer stands.” He replied back with a smile on his lips.
