personality:
Meredith has always been calm and collected. Even at a young age, she was always the sensible and mature type. Though, her controlled demeanor could be considered too good, often causing her to come off as cold or indifferent. Her mind has a solid ground on logic, and she can be very cynical about things that step away from logic. She can be fairly blunt with her opinion on the matter too, because she isn't one to really hold her opinion to herself.
Meredith is very sure of herself. She knows who she is, what she can do, and what she believes. And it's very difficult to convince her of anything else without strong proof. This gives her a very strong will, because she isn't one to give in to things easy. Her pride doesn't allow it. It also is a cause for her to keep many personal things to herself. Meredith hates being seen as weak and if anything could cause this, she hides it.
She has a very wry personality, often making keen observations or (somewhat humorous) comments in a dry tone. She doesn't let things bother her, or at least let people know they do. She's always got to be strong for everyone. In a crisis, it doesn't matter how phased she is by it, she still tries to take care of everyone else before herself. She's the rock, and if you see something bother her, then you know it's bad. However, despite the cold exterior she puts out, she's actually a very warm person on the inside.
Meredith hates vampires. Though she doesn't actually believe in their existence. When she was young and naive, her grandfather's affliction and rantings about being attacked by a vampire had been taken seriously by her. While she grew up and stopped believing in such things, that dislike of vampires remained with her. Of course, this just means she'll be avoiding their movies and other media. It has no bearing on any other part of her life, right? ....... Right?

history:
Meredith Sulez was born on June 6th of 1992, in Mystic Falls. However, this was also the same day her grandfather had been attacked by what he claimed to be a 'vampire'. He seemed alright for the most part, but slowly got worse and on Meredith's fourth birthday he finally completely snapped. The memory came back to him and he attacked his family, attempting to kill both Meredith and her grandmother. He was unsuccessful and ended up placed in a hospital for people with mental illness. This fact is a great shame to the proud Sulez family, and is kept a secret, except from certain high authority family members in Mystic Falls. To avoid association, Meredith's birthday is now celebrated on May 30th and this is the date she tells everyone.
Meredith was once best friends with Elena Gilbert, Bonnie Bennett, and Caroline Forbes, much like their parents had been friends. The four of them had been inseparable throughout elementary school, Meredith often referred to as the 'mature' one. She was always the most reserved, and while Elena and Caroline had a tendency to butt heads, Meredith was all too happy to let them be up front while she was simply part of the 'court'. They remained this way until they were fourteen. That's when Meredith's parents decided it was time to attempt a 'bigger' life away from the small town life. Her father got a job in New York and Meredith was forced to leave her long time best friends and move to the city.
Life in the city was hard. Meredith was not someone who talked about herself, which made making friends difficult. She also refused to change. She knew who she was and liked it. She wasn't about to change just because of difficulties fitting in. This resulted in a fairly lonely four years. She had made some friends, but none were overly close. Most found Meredith's unwillingness to share her life story to be a lack of trust, and wrote her off as cold. After four years, however, her parents had decided to move back. Despite her father's success at his job, he and Meredith's mother suddenly found the city to loud and longed for the quiet town again. Her father claimed he could just do his work on the computer and e-mail it and also was thinking of opening a business in Mystic Falls.
Meredith's keen observational skills are not so easily fooled though. She can tell there's something her parents aren't telling her about this very sudden and out of the blue whim to move back to their old home. She didn't argue the matter though (like she did the last time) and just went along with it. Now she's wondering what kind of changes she's going to find in Mystic Falls and with her old friends.

They were going back...
Oddly enough. She had never registered any unhappiness from her parents about living in the city. And if she had remembered right, they had been quite happy to leave the small town behind. Why the sudden change? There was something more to it all then her parents just getting 'sick of all the noise'. Meredith had gotten used to the sounds of the city a few months after they had moved there. She didn't even hear it anymore. Her parents couldn't suddenly just be annoyed by it after all this time. Plus, there was the way her father couldn't look at her straight. Meredith's piercing gaze, full of suspicion, had caused a slight uncomfortable feeling in her father. As she pressed for more of an explanation, her father had become more frustrated and just simply told her that was how things are. Not like she was arguing, she just didn't like them insulting her intelligence like they were.
Meredith lifted her hand, a thin finger reaching out and pushing some hair that had fallen in her face back behind her ear. She looked forward at her parents in the front seat of the car. The mystery of why they wanted to go back to Mystic Falls was definitely something she wanted to figure out, but she just didn't have enough evidence at the moment. She was sure she would be able to gather more once they were there though. They couldn't hide things from her without a lot of work. Meredith always was able to figure out what they were hiding from them. But she sensed something big involved here. Her father usually caved much easier then this. He wasn't now though. Hell, he had even attempted to buy her off with a car when they got there. Basically a 'don't make a fuss about this' present. The funny thing was she wasn't making a fuss. That suggested he was feeling guilty about it all. Very interesting. So Meredith came quietly and figured she would look into things more when they got back.
"Back..."
Did she really still think of Mystic Falls as 'back' after all of this time? Meredith's chocolate eyes shifted back out to the view outside her window. The rolling countryside rushed past in a green and blue blur, though her eyes perceived little of it. Her mind was now on the impending return to her old home. To her old friends. She wondered if they'd remember her. Then she chided herself on the stupidity of that thought. If they didn't remember her, she'd request they get a CAT scan. They had been friends for over a decade, they should remember her. What was more in question was what were they like now. A lot could change in four years. Though, Meredith noted, she hadn't changed much. Physically she had grown up into a woman, but otherwise she was still the same person. Maybe that was because she had always been so mature. Her mind was already an adults, it didn't have anywhere else to go. Her friends could be completely different people now though. It would be interesting to see what life had dealt them in the past four years. And how they'd react to her coming back. Meredith had honestly believed she would never see them again. How do you make your piece with leaving the best friends you ever had forever and then go back to them? It was really the only thing about this that had Meredith's stomach twittering.
"Should be quite the experience."
