personality:
Rose is one of those people that everyone in her hometown refers to as a 'sweet girl', but 'a little off, eccentric'. She's a loner, always off in her own world, and a dreamer. One may describe her as whimsical, for her fashion taste embodies this as well as her fantasizing personality. She's incredibly intelligent, however in an artistic way and has severe ADD which makes it damn near impossible for her to succeed in school, hence her dislike for it. Rose makes many spur of the moment decisions, and is very scatter-brained, a product of the ADD. She's always doing everything in her power to absorb every detail of her surroundings and savor the little things in life that people overlook far too often. She knows she's not always successful but prides herself in the effort.
Rose is a caring, generous, overly nice person. She's very bright and friendly, and very bubbly. She can carry on casual conversation as she chatters easily and happily, but people are often put off by her odd nature. However, if you ever needed anything, she'd be there in a heartbeat and give you the clothes on her back. It pretty much doesn't matter if you are a very close friend, relative, or stranger. She always wants to help others and almost never puts herself before anyone else. This trait is only negative in that she is so sweet and giving that people take advantage of her far too often. With her gentle nature, she overlooks this and is always attempting to see the good in people. Those who know this about her do take advantage of it, because they know even if she realizes that she's incredibly forgiving and they'll never hear about it again.
Rose puts her faith into others too easily. She's very loyal and its nearly impossible to shake that. She'll forgive you under almost any circumstance, and she never judges. In a way, this makes it very rare for her to be close to others because combined with her eccentric personality, people know her as nice but weird and only come to her as a last resort. In the back of her mind, Rose knows this, but hopes that maybe if she keeps being kind and generous, trusting and forgiving, she may land herself some good ties and maybe a helping hand in the future if she ever needed one. Part of Rose's problem is that she's seen a lot of bad in people, and she's never been able to really rely on others, which for some reason causes her to constantly be looking for the good in people and rarely does she actually dislike a person, no matter how vile they may be to her.
Socially inept. Yes she's friendly and can keep up a conversation (however odd it may be) but Rose is not very good socially. She's too eager and nice that its occasionally overwhelming and she doesn't know how to simply be cool and normal. Its not in her personality at all and she doesn't realize that her happy, bubbly, whimsical nature drives people away from her. She was never popular in high school, usually she was the one who you may ask to make a party dress for you because of her fashion taste, a talent people consider to be the only reason worth paying her any attention. However, what others don't know - for they don't get close enough to her to find out, is that Rose has a wicked sense of humor and if you give her the chance, she's a lot of fun to be around. Of course, you have to overlook her dreamy personality and artsy ways. If you can though, she makes a wonderful companion and a great person to have around. Especially for people with trust issues, because Rose is so overly trusting and she's very constant and rarely has mood swings, making her dependable.
mother: Lela Atwood.
father: She doesn't know his name because he left before she can remember and her mother has withheld it from her.
siblings: None.
other family: Being a local in Mystic Falls, Rose has a lot of immediate family in the area such as Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins, one being Caroline Forbes, though they're not that close.
other important people: None really, as Rose is fairly solitary.
history:
Rose has always been left to her own company. Even as a toddler, her mother had an alcohol problem and often neglected her except for the bare minimum one can do to keep a child alive. Rose never really minded, and always adored her mother, even with the poor treatment she received from her. She craved any small moments of maternal affection that she may receive from Lela and is always striving to be a good daughter, and to earn her mother's love. Its had a slightly negative effect on her though, subconsciously Rose feels inadequate since her mother has never really paid any attention to her life. Being left on her own with minimum care has made Rose incredibly independent and naturally very self-reliant. She got a job at a very young age to help support her mother and keep food on the table. Of course, this always went unappreciated, which hurt Rose naturally.
Rose never really had many friends, and still doesn't. She was always the weird girl drawing all the time, the one that draws strange, but elaborate and beautiful pictures of supernatural creatures and fairy tales in her notebook. Rose knew that people just don't understand her, so she looked for other qualities to like in people. While she is not desperate for friends or company since she often enjoys her solitude, Rose often made people think she may have been very needy with her enthusiastic friendliness and excessive generosity. Rose naturally wants to please, and gets such a thrill out of making people smile, and there's nothing better to her than earning another's trust or making them feel happy. However, this did not win her invitations to parties or gossip sessions. If she wasn't naturally petite and a naturally beautiful girl, people may have avoided her completely. Of course, there was always the painfully shy boy who would ask her to homecoming and prom knowing she couldn't say no to anyone who came at her with a smile.
High school was a long four years between scraping by in class and working long hours to support herself. Rose's ADD made it very difficult for her to do well in school, with her inability to focus and test well. She excelled in any class that involved using her artistic abilities considering that she is incredibly talented in this way and was adored by her teachers who always referred to her work as 'brilliant'. However, her grades were not enough to get her into any sort of decent University, not that this is what Rose wanted, because her only interest was to get into art or fashion school so that she could learn more about designing clothes. Which leads to a key part of Rose's life, and that is designing. She paints, sketches, and draws all the time, but she has quite a gift in designing unique, whimsical, and fashionable clothing pieces. Once she could sew (which was at a young age) Rose began to make her own clothes. In high school she was known for wearing almost exclusively her own designs and if people wanted something unique to wear for a special occasion, they'd often come to her asking Rose to make them something custom. She always obliged.
Once graduation day came around there was hardly anyone more excited to get out of a standardized daily routine and to get out into the real world. Rose got accepted into the Savannah College of Art and Design, but without the money to pay for tuition was not able to accept. She chose to defer for a year, hoping to earn enough money as to make herself eligible for a decent college loan. However, Rose isn't sure how successful this endeavor will be, although she does know that either way she will eventually develop her own line of clothing and make a name for herself. If she has to wait a few years to pay for school, Rose's optimistic views will keep her moving forward and staying diligent with hard work. She's still in Mystic Falls for now, but is living in a small apartment in town. She helps her mother out by assisting with her rent and keeping food in the fridge but does not give her direct cash since she knows it will only be spent on booze. For now, Rose is just working on getting by and saving money to hopefully pay for school.

role play sample:
A scuff mark appeared on the door as Rose awkwardly kicked it shut, struggling with her bags. She'd just made a trip to the fabric store after a long day of work, and had purchased several yards of various cloths and buttons in which she planned to make new additions to her wardrobe and design book. She dropped everything in a heap next to the door, sighing as she leaned against the wall and caught her breath after carrying everything up five flights of stairs. Rose worked in the Bloomingdales in the local mall, an upscale department store that sold very common looking, nice clothing. Rose was sometimes a salesman, or others time a cashier, she worked wherever they wanted to depending on the day and often worked long hours to earn more money. Today was a busier one at the store, and Rose had a terrible headache from running back and forth from dressing rooms to give people the next size up or maybe a different color sweater dress than the one they'd originally picked out. It wasn't hard work, it was just tedious.
Tossing her jacket onto the spindly coat hanger that stood next to her door, Rose tossed her gold tendrils up into a messy bun on top of her head, grabbing a pencil from her desk and sticking it through to keep her hair in place for a moment. Chopsticks would have worked better but she didn't feel like trying to find any right this second. She quickly lit some floral candles about her living room, ones that she'd actually made herself with dried flower petals and such. The smell quickly helped to ease her stress, now all she had to do was eat something, as her stomach growled viciously for some dinner. Rose withheld a sigh as she thought about her options, her limbs and body were far too heavy with fatigue to stand around the stove and cook, so she settled for leftovers. With fresh muse in her mind, Rose whipped out her clothing sketchbook and began to illustrate designs for the new fabrics she'd purchased. When her dinner was gone, and her eyelids began to droop, she stood up groggily and made her way to bed.
Washing her face always gave Rose a second wind, and therefore she'd make herself sleepy once more by reading. She loved to read old fairy tales and romantic storybooks before she went to bed. More often than not, she'd break out the old fairy tale book from when she was a little girl and reread the stories that were meant for young children. For some reason, they always made her feel warm on the inside and gave her sweet dreams whenever Prince Charming came to the rescue. Rose didn't find these stories to make women seem weak, and she disliked when people took the cynical view of fairy tales like so. She adored the phrase 'happily ever after', and knew that even though it didn't actually exist in reality - she could always imagine what it might be like. She stared out the window for a moment, clouds passed and exposed the pale moon, bright and clear, it wasn't quite full but in a few days it would be. Turning out the light, she rolled over and fell into a deep sleep as she seemed to nearly every night.
