Hope you don't mind me assuming that she opens the door and saying so in the post.

Stefan waited for a moment and then the door opened. However, after that, Anna kept her back to him, saying that it wasn't necessary, that what had happened had been her fault as she wasn't stupid and was taking full responsibility.
"Actually, it is necessary," he corrected. "A lot of what I was saying had nothing to do with you. I just---I remembered something from when I was human and it scared me. It was---I thought I had dealt with it a long time ago, but apparently I was wrong," he told her. Yeah, he had thought he was over what happened to him back then. He had pushed it down, forgotten it. But the combination of their near hookup, the blood, and the alcohol had confused things, which had caused him to lash out at the girl. And that wasn't right. She hadn't deserved to get yelled at. So yeah, he owed her an explanation. It was the least he could do.
He let out an unneeded breath and he messed up his hair with his hands as he thought about how best to explain it.
"Father, he wasn't---he had different sides to him. And he had a nasty habit of screwin' with your head. I know that better than anybody. It was hard to please him when he could change his mind on a whim. He---I---there were things that he expected, and what happened tonight just brought it back. I'm sorry for hurting you," he told her. And he had hurt her. He hadn't really meant to, but he had. And that killed him. How could he hurt her like that when she was trying to help him? It wasn't her fault that Father had been a twisted bastard who lived on head games. No, it wasn't her fault at all...
